Y/n has problems with her stomach once in a while but now they're back. Maya notices it first and Y/n wants Maya to nit tell Carina because she will go feral but she notices it soon when Carina sees her girlfriend getting pale while working in the ER (or somewhere in the hospital) and Carina has a consil there
Tumblr media
---
Maya was about to toss the individual ingredients of her smoothie into the blender when she heard quick footsteps, followed by a shadow of a figure before loud gagging and coughing from the bathroom interrupted the morning silence. "Y/n?"
When she only heard agonizing noises instead of your voice, her body tensed up and let go of the transparent vessel before her upper body pushed back from the counter she was standing at. She sprinted in the direction you had been heading before and stopped at the door frame to survey the situation unfolding in front of her.
You sat huddled in front of the toilet, one hand wrapped around the seat while the other was laying flat on your stomach. Since yesterday evening you felt nauseous but tried to get over it and suppress the feeling of throwing up; you wanted to at least try to hold out until your girlfriends were out of the house so they wouldn´t know you weren´t feeling well.
But you couldn´t achieve the goal you had set for yourself and it happened in front of the blonde´s eyes. You felt a warm hand gently on your spine, massaging it with light movements while a grip on your hair became noticeable and the annoying strands were removed from your face. "It´s okay. Let it out, babe."
A rush of nausea overcame you again and you shook your head as you cleared yourself of the acid and the spit that came out. The comforting warmth left your back for a split second as you heard the sink turn on. Your shaky hand left your stomach and placed itself on the flush before you cleared your throat and managed to finally pull away from the toilet only to see Maya kneeling next to you, cloth in hand and a soft but concerned look in her eyes.
"Take a deep breath." she whispered, gently taking your chin up to wipe the corner of your lips. You didn´t even realized you had problems giving your lungs the needed air before you took a breath and you felt the cold air tingling in your chest. "Is it your stomach again?"
You nodded gently so as not to increase the slight dizziness before turning away from her and walking to the sink to rinse your mouth with water and splash some of it in your face. She leaned her lower back against the sink you were standing at and lovingly handed you the dry towel.
"Please do not tell Carina, she´ll go crazy." you breathed in a hoarse voice, glancing nervously at her over the mirror. But you only got a soft sigh in response and a subsequent gesture she always did when she was concerned; she rested her hand on her forehead and shook her head. "Then how are you going to explain to her why you´re not showing up to work today?"
"I won´t have to tell her because I´m going."
---
The strong nauseating feeling was still looming as if it were walking right behind you. You were still dizzy, like everything was spinning around you but you still managed to get through half of your workday without throwing up again.
Now you only had to endure another four hours.
In the elevator down to the emergency room, you leaned against the cool wall and closed your eyes for a moment. A moment too long- when the usual elevator made the sound as it stopped at the desired floor, you startled and walked out with quick steps.
Lost in thought, you ran unnoticed into a nurse who dropped all the documents she was holding, on the floor. Apologetically you knelt down and helped her put the individual papers back in the files, jumping up a short time later.
As a result, you became so dizzy that you had to cling to the wall next to you.
"Tell me, bella, are you alright?" Carina asked you from the side and put a hand on your shoulder; lightly squeezing it. You carefully turned your head in the direction her voice was coming from and a soft smile greeted you as she looked at you with concern.
"I am doing great." You answer her question and push yourself off the wall. Unfortunately, you felt a bit unsteady on your feet, so the brunette had to hold you tight.
She raised her eyebrows sharply. "Honestly, you don´t look all right to me." she remarked, frowning and looking worried at your otherwise lively figure. The Italian woman put her hand on your forehead, but before she could feel your temperature, you turned your head to the side. "I´m not sick, Carina. Just a little worn-out."
The brunette crossed her arms and bit her lip. She could see and feel that you weren´t feeling well and that you were a different person, she had known you too long and too well for that. Also a blonde birdie texted her and told her what happened this morning- she just didn´t understood why you were trying to cover up your apparent state of health.
"Come puoi essere così testardo?" (How can you be so stubborn?)
You rolled your eyes at this saying, did you know exactly what this meant; you had heard it flow out of her mouth often enough. With a big sigh, you felt defeated and you leaned on her shoulder. "Will you bring me home?" you asked a bit pitifully, your vision still severely limited.
"Of course, bambina." she put and arm around you thoughtfully and slowly began to walk with you. "But first let´s have Bailey examine your stomach thoroughly."

Hii!! I Hope you’re well, rn I’m watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and I was a question if u can do a Draco x reader ( fluff) when Draco is going to kill Dumbledore and reader is here bc she wanted to ask a question to Dumbledore. For the rest of the story I trust you im sure u make a great story! Idk if u’re request are opens but I hope u’re understand what I want ( my English is not the best ) !! Bye and have a great day when u read that!
Ps : a happy end !! 💞
After almost half a year I finally finished this one as well, so thank you not only for your request but also for your patience. I feel like I might have screwed up the logic of some events since the scene is really complex and described quite detailed in the books as well as in the movies and I didn´t want to change too much of the plot. Also, I really tried to make the ending as happy as possible, but since the scene itself is quite angsty let´s just say the outcome is the best I could think of without making the story much longer and complicated than necessary. However, I hope you still enjoy this fic and go easy on me, I haven´t written anything in quite a while.
Happily ever after
Warnings: mentions of death / murder
Your eyes darted from the parchment in front of you to the books that were splattered across the table. The assignment about the history of the Cruciatus Curse was due by tomorrow and by now, you had only managed to work yourself through the chronicles until the declaration as unforgivable in 1717. You sighed in resignation as you flicked through the pages of the books, hoping to find anything helpful. But the results of hours of research were more than just disenchanting. Because even though Madame Pince had granted you access to the Restricted Section, details about the forbidden curses were still hard to find. The frown on your face only deepened. Why in Merlin´s name would the Professors give you homework about themes that were that hard to research? You came to the conclusion, that they probably just took pleasure in your misery; especially if said teacher happened to be Professor Snape, who -contrary to your hopes- didn’t go easier with you since he had finally gotten his dream job. Regardless of the Professor´s motives, however, you had to finish the essay, if you didn’t want to earn yourself a month of detention. So you let out a small sigh before you buried yourself deeper into the world of the one curse that made chills run down your spine more than any other.
But your state of concentration didn’t last long. Some loud voices abruptly got you out of your trance-like state. You blinked in irritation. You knew those voices.
“This is absolutely unacceptable! Intolerable!”
You knew immediately that this was the shrill voice of Madame Pince. Probably every student in here had been at some point the victim of her tirades, once she had caught a student doing anything that -in her eyes- just wasn’t done in a library. And the list of those things was sheer endless.
“I already told you, I have research to do.”
You knew that voice as well. But for now, you couldn’t identify it yet. You frowned as you put down your quill. You knew that you shouldn’t get distracted by that kind of nonsense that easily, but somehow, that conversation was just so much more interesting than the books piling up in front of you.
“About what?”
“I don’t think that´s any of your business.”
While you heard Madame Pince gasping for air, while she tried to process what the boy had just said to her in her sacred halls, something in your head clicked, increasing your curiosity. Because there was only one student you knew who would dare to talk to elders and betters like that. Silently, you got up from your chair and sneaked to the next shelf, glancing around the corner carefully.
Madame Pince had turned her back on you, so you couldn´t see her face, but what you could see was that her shoulders were shaking from anger. The blond boy who had caused her furious state was standing right in front of her, towering the elder woman for several centimetres. He had his arms crossed in front of his chest and the look on his face seemed rather unimpressed; almost bored.
“Get out!”, Madame Pince spat out.
“I don’t think you are in the position to tell me what to do.”
“I am not… This is the library, young man. My library. And as long as you are in here, I am the only one to tell you what and what not to do.”
“Oh yeah? Well, go ahead then. I am really curious what you want to do about it. Because I certainly won´t leave before my research is done.”
There was a dangerousness in the boy´s voice that send shivers down your spine. And not in the way his presence usually did. Something felt off about this. As if something bad was about to happen if the situation wouldn´t calm down any time soon. And you certainly didn’t want to find out what exactly this thing would be.
So you took a deep breath and -just as Madame Pince was about to answer- stepped out of the shadows of the shelves and walked up to the two squabblers with the sweetest smile on your face.
“Excuse me, Madame Pince. I didn’t mean to interrupt your discussion, but I think Draco is here for the same reason I am. You know, the essay for Professor Snape. We have to finish it until tomorrow and I…”
“Very well Mrs (Y/l/n), but I didn’t ask for your interference. I think Mr Malfoy can very well speak for himself as we all have just heard.”
You tried to widen your smile even more and looked at the librarian with doe eyes.
“I´m sorry Madame Pince. I just wanted to help out.”
The witch looked at you with narrowed eyes, her lips pursed. Then her gaze shifted to the Slytherin in front of her, who looked at the two of you with an indefinable look on his face.
“Is that the reason you wanted to get in here, Mr Malfoy?”, Madame Pince asked, her eyes piercing the blond boy.
He just nodded and mumbled something incomprehensible about Professor Snape and his research. The gaze of the librarian shifted between him and you, scanning you as if she could see all the way to the bottom of your soul. Even though you were aware of the fact that you had done nothing wrong, you still felt your hands getting sweaty and you gulped heavily as you tried to withstand her glare without lowering your head.
Finally, Madame Pince nodded slowly.
“Two more hours. Then I will lock this section up again. And Mr Malfoy” She glared at the Slytherin, who did a much better job in returning her gaze than you had done before. “The next time you will tell me about your projects yourself. Or I granted you access to this section for the longest time.”
Then the librarian turned on her heel, not without shooting you one last warning glance, and strutted down the aisle soundlessly, her eagle eyes probably already looking for her next victim.
When Madame Pince was finally out of sight, you turned around to the blond boy, who had remained rooted in his spot, glaring at you, offering him a small smile that you didn’t expect him to return, before you got back to your desk again, letting yourself fall onto your chair.
When not even two minutes later, you heard some footsteps behind you, you couldn’t help the small smile that crept on your face. Finally, the steps came to a halt right next to you. You didn’t even need to look up to know who was standing there. Even if you wouldn’t have saved him only minutes ago, you would have done so. By now, you recognized the sound of his steps as well as the smell of his cologne.
“Care to join me?”, you asked without tearing your gaze from the book in front of you, even though you hadn’t even read a single sentence of the pages.
A small huff escaped the boy´s lips before you felt his presence departing. Only when you heard the creaking of the chair on the opposite side of the table, you glanced up again, a small smile still playing around your lips. As your eyes met the grey ones of your counterpart, a few seconds passed, before finally one corner of the blond boy´s lips twitched upwards, not enough to actually return your smile, but enough that you knew very well he acknowledged it.
You shoved the book to the side, mirroring the behaviour of the boy in front of you, leaning back in your chair and crossing your arms in front of your chest.
“What? Got nothing to say?”, you asked.
Silence.
You sighed.
“Oh hey, (Y/n). Thanks for helping me out with Madame Pince. Because she probably would have kicked me out if it wasn’t for you, because I behaved like a complete idiot.”, you said in a sarcastic voice, as you rolled your eyes.
You could see the amusement glistening in the boy´s eyes as he raised an eyebrow.
“Why would I have to say something if you already think you know what´s going on (Y/l/n)?”, he smirked.
As soon as he had broken the silence between the two of you, you could feel the tension that had been hovering above you like a dark cloud ease and you felt yourself melting into your chair, while your counterpart did just the same.
The relationship Draco Malfoy and you had was strange. You wouldn’t say the two of you were friends -probably far from it-, still, in comparison to how Draco treated most of his other classmates, the two of you got along very well. You weren’t quite sure why, but ever since you had been paired up with one another in your very first year at Hogwarts, there was something like an unspoken tie between the two of you. You regularly paired up in your classes and often met up afterwards to study together. And even though you justified the time you spend with Draco with the fact that he was a brilliant student and every task you started with him was granted to be a success, deep down, you knew that it was more than that. Because in the Slytherin´s company, you found a strange kind of comfort that confused you yet made you long for more. And even though you had never talked about it -you barely talked about anything but your classes at all- you sometimes suspected that Draco might feel the same about you. Or at least that´s what you were hoping for. You didn’t know what it was but whenever you spend your afternoons in the library alongside Draco, while studying silently or getting all worked up in preparation for the next class, you experienced a sense of home, you had never felt when you were with someone else. He made you feel safe and his special kind of humour made you -if he wasn’t insulting everyone around him for once- laugh every single time.
“So am I right about it?”, you responded, mirroring the slightly haughty look on Draco´s face.
The boy sighed.
“If you weren’t – could I convince you otherwise?”
“I highly doubt that.”, you chuckled.
“That´s what I thought. But unfortunately, all your brilliance won´t help you the slightest if you won´t bring it to paper.”, Draco answered, as he glanced at the paper in front of you, fully aware that what you had written wouldn’t satisfy Professor Snape the slightest yet.
“I would have made much more progress by now if someone”, you glared at the Slytherin in front of you, “wouldn’t have felt the need to yell at the librarian.”
You noticed Draco´s grin falling from his face immediately as he ducked his gaze.
You frowned. This kind of behaviour wasn’t unusual for Draco in the last few weeks. Ever since the new school year had started, he was acting rather strange. He seemed to be absent-minded most of the time and was roaming around the castle with a look on his face that made you suspect that he was up to no good. Also, he was much more thin-skinned than ever. A year ago, you wouldn’t have suspected Draco talking to the staff at Hogwarts in the way he had just done to Madame Pince. He had always been rude towards people he considered below his dignity, but always clever enough to not provoke people who were higher up the food chain than he was. But since you had become a sixth grader, Draco didn’t seem to care as much about his reputation or the consequences of his behaviour anymore. You couldn’t exactly blame him though. You knew his father, who Draco had always seemed to be quite close to, had been sentenced to Azkaban, which obviously dragged on the boy´s nerves. However, you felt like there was more than met the eye to his behaviour, even though you couldn’t quite grasp it yet. And even though you couldn’t help but wonder about his strange behaviour, you had always told yourself that this was none of your business. But now that you saw Draco zoning out once more, his hands anxiously fiddling around with the tie around his neck, you couldn’t help but worry about the boy in front of you that somehow looked so different from the one who had taken his place in front of you only minutes ago, teasing you about your own behaviour.
“Are you… is everything okay?”, you asked carefully, scared that by asking this you might overstep the invisible boundary that the two of you had drawn in your relationship, that you had so often been tempted to overstep, but had never dared to, worried that this might shatter the fragile bond between you and the boy irreversibly.
But Draco didn’t even seem to hear you. He was still staring into the void, caught up in his own thoughts.
You hesitated for a moment before you called him out once more: “Draco? Did you hear me?”
As if he snapped out of a trance, Draco stared at you with widened eyes. For a moment, you thought you could see his gaze soften as he looked at you, seeing how you knit your brows in concern, trying to get at least the slightest idea of what was going on inside his head.
But the moment passed and the gentle confusion on his face gave place to the usual mask he was wearing when he didn’t want people to know what he was thinking.
“I think you´ll have enough problems on your own if you keep on chattering instead of finishing your paper (Y/l/n).”, Draco answered in his usual arrogant voice, even though he wasn’t able to withstand your gaze as long as usual.
“I didn´t… Just wanted to check on you.”, you mumbled, as you felt your cheeks heating up. What in Merlin´s name were you thinking?
“That´s not your job, you know? I mean, it´s not like we're best friends or something. Braiding each other’s hair and sharing all our secrets. We´re studying together because we know we can benefit from one another since apparently, we are the only ones with a decent amount of intelligence. That´s all there is, isn’t it?” If you wouldn’t have known Draco for such a long time, you would have thought that there was a pleading look in his eyes, silently begging you to contradict. To tell him that there was more to your relationship than the fact that your grades benefited from it.
But Draco Malfoy wasn’t one to beg for anything. Neither was he one who would tolerate it if one would disagree with him.
So you just nodded and pulled the book you had shoved to the side closer again.
“Then we should start working again now, shouldn’t we? I can give you the notes I made on the essay if you want me to.”, you said, forcing yourself to smile at the Slytherin as you tried to ignore the stinging in your heart you had felt at his words.
Draco blinked and looked at you in confusion.
“The essay?”
You frowned.
“The essay for Professor Snape. About the Crutiatus Curse? That´s why you wanted to get in here, didn’t you?”
Draco hesitated for a moment, his eyes flickering to the parts of the section that were lying in deep shadows, the parts, you didn’t dare to go and those Madame Pince had vigorously forbidden you to go to, before he looked back at you and gave you a short nod.
“Obviously it was. Wouldn’t have any other reason to get here, would I?”
You just nodded, before you shoved some of your notes over to Draco who gave you a thankful nod.
And for the rest of the evening, the two of you worked silently side by side, while you ignored Draco´s gaze lingering on you most of the time, just like he ignored the worried glances you threw him from time to time, as you wondered what was going on inside the blond boy´s head and why -if all you were were classmates- you still cared so much about it.
And over the next weeks, your worries only increased. Draco barely ever showed up to your study sessions and even in the lessons you shared with him, he was often missing. And if he joined you once, he would be absent-minded and make stupid mistakes, even though you knew he could do better. His grades obviously suffered under his strange behaviour but while the Draco you had known for several years, had always been anxious to be on top of the class, by now he didn’t seem to care at all. But not only his weird behaviour made you suspect that something was off more than ever. Draco also didn’t look as well as usual. It wasn’t like he wasn’t handsome and for some reason absolutely stupidly attractive anymore, but you could see the marks the changes in his life had left on him. His pale skin looked almost translucent, and his cheeks sunken. There were dark circles under his grey eyes, and while you had often secretly admired the silvery childish sparkle, he had held within them, by now they looked apathetically as they flickered through the room as if he was expecting a threat coming up to him any second, while his hands fiddled on the rings covering them the entire time.
By now, in the study sessions with Draco, he made you almost lose your mind. Because you were dying to know what was going on with the boy, but whenever you brought up the topic even the slightest, the Slytherin brushed you off in a rude way. Plus, while on the one hand you somehow still enjoyed spending time with Draco and were -regardless of his behaviour- under the impression that he might do so the same from time to time, on the other hand, you barely made any progress when you were working with Draco, and especially that shortly before the final exams, you couldn’t allow your grades to drop as well. But while most of the other people would by now probably have given Draco up, this only fuelled your determination to make not only yourself but also Draco pass the exams at the end of this school year. And from time to time, your volition seemed to pay off, because sometimes -even though it happened rarely- Draco seemed to be able to forget whatever was troubling him these days and was finally able to relax again, sometimes even breaking you a small smile that never failed to make your heartbeat quicken as you would return his smile without thinking about it twice. And whenever he did so you swore to yourself that, as soon as the exams would be over, you would dedicate your entire attention to helping Draco deal with whatever troubled him – whether he wanted you to or not.
You sighed in resignation as you looked at the pile of notes in front of you. The upcoming N.E.W.T exams stressed you out even more, now that they were just around the corner. Once more, it was Defence Against the Dark Arts, you struggled with the most. Not because you didn’t understand the tasks, but because whenever you thought you had finally understood the issue, ten other questions popped up in your head again, leaving you even more confused than you had been before. That wasn’t unusual to you, but in the other classes, your teachers were happy to answer every single one of your questions patiently until you were finally contented. Professor Snape however wasn’t exactly delighted whenever you would come up to him with yet another question and by now he had threatened you to dock some points from your house if you would ever do so again. And you had no doubt that the teacher would actually do so, so you tried to keep all your questions to yourself. But whenever you did so, your head felt as if it was going to explode any second, making you feel, like you didn’t even understand the essentials.
But suddenly, another idea came to your mind. Over the last few weeks, there had been another Professor who had, when he had noticed how much you were struggling in this class, sat down with you and patiently answered all the questions you had, no matter how long it took. And Professor Dumbledore certainly knew everything about the class he once used to teach himself, even though by now, this was decades ago. Plus, he always seemed to be delighted by your unquenchable thirst for knowledge, happily answering every single of your questions in as much detail as you wished for.
You had halfway gotten off your chair already when you stopped and took a look at your watch. It was already late at night, far after curfew. You knew that Professor Dumbledore wouldn’t hold it against you if you would be out of bed that late, fully understanding the pressure that was on you shortly before your exams. However, if one of the other teachers -or even worse Filch- would catch you, you would most likely get in trouble. But then again you knew that you wouldn’t be able to fall asleep before at least some of your questions would be answered and after all – if the headmaster wouldn’t mind it if you would pay him a visit, how could the other teachers do so?
So you grabbed a parchment and a quill and made your way out of the common room and to Dumbledore´s office.
When you had finally gotten to the office without any incidents, you came to a halt in front of the ugly gargoyle, that guarded the entrance. It had its eyes closed and seemed to be asleep already. Nervously, you shifted from one foot to the other before you cleared your throat. The gargoyle lazily opened its eyes and stared at you.
“I… I´m sorry to wake you up, but I would like to talk to Professor Dumbledore.”
A few seconds passed while the stone figure just eyed you. Then finally, it opened its mouth and spoke in a heavy voice: “The Headmaster isn´t here.”
You nodded.
“Okay and… Do you know where I can find him?”
Once more the gargoyle took its time to answer.
“Astronomy Tower.”, it said, before it closed its eyes again, and froze in its movement.
“Well, thanks then.”, you mumbled, before you turned around on your heel and walked towards the Astronomy Tower.
You weren’t quite sure what it was, but while you walked down the empty corridors of the castle, something felt different than usual. You felt shivers running down your spine as your steps echoed through the castle far too loud at the deathly silence that surrounded you.
But even though you felt as if your steps could be heard in the entire castle, no one showed up to see if everything was in order. It felt like no one was in the castle but you. Obviously, you knew that this wasn’t the case. Most people were simply asleep by now and Filch was probably somewhere on the other side of the castle. And even though you were aware of that fact, just as much as you were aware that the castle was just the same as hours ago when the sun hadn’t set already and there were still loads of students running around in the hallways, you felt like you had dived into a different dimension; one where it was important -maybe even lifesaving- to keep a close eye on your surroundings. And so you did as your steps got faster, aspiring to finally reach your destination.
When you had almost reached the Astronomy Tower, you suddenly heard a loud bang, followed by screams. You turned around quickly, turning your head to all sides. You could feel your heart pumping inside your chest quickly as you eavesdropped into the silence. You could still hear some voices, but they all sounded muffled. You took a deep breath and tried to calm down again. Probably some other students were still out of bed as well and had been caught by one of the Professors or someone had made fun of scaring their friends. But whatever it was, it still sounded far away.
You got a grip on yourself again as you accelerated your steps and hurried up the steps of the Astronomy Tower.
When you stopped in front of the wooden door that was the entrance to the platform you suspected the headmaster was on, you were panting. You took a few moments to catch your breath again, not willing to be a stuttering mess in front of the Professor. But when you finally raised your hand to knock on the door, you froze. For some reason, you had assumed that Professor Dumbledore would be up here on his own, but behind the door, you could hear some voices, even though you couldn’t understand what they were saying.
You hesitated. You didn’t know who the Professor was up here with, but given the time and place of the meeting, you assumed that they wanted to be undisturbed. And even though Dumbledore had already helped you out several times before, you highly doubted that he would be delighted if you would interrupt an important meeting with your stupid little questions. On the other hand, you also didn’t want to get back down there, since the strange feeling in your gut only grew stronger with every second and every fibre of your body was screaming at you not to leave yet. Following a strong intuition, you weren’t quite sure where you had gotten it from, you took a deep breath once more and knocked on the door.
When you pushed the door open, a greenish shimmer fell through the crack in the door. A shiver ran down your spine. You blamed the cold air of the night, tried to ignore the nagging feeling in your stomach, as you opened the door completely and took a step on the platform.
“Professor Dumbledore?” Your voice sounded a bit shaky. You straightened your back as you took another step forwards. “Professor? I´m sorry to interrupt. I know it´s already late but I have some questions regarding the…”
You stopped in the middle of the sentence. Because the person who was staring at you with widened eyes wasn’t Professor Dumbledore.
“Draco? What are you…”
Once more you interrupted yourself mid-sentence, as you finally took in the entire scene.
Draco had frozen in place as he had noticed you. His head had turned in your direction, his eyes were fixed on you. He seemed to have completely forgotten where he was or what he had been about to do before you had disturbed him. Because only moments before his attention seemed to be on someone else. Your eyes wandered down Draco´s extended arm, his hand that was clenched around his wand, as it shook vigorously. Your gaze followed the imaginary line you drew from Draco´s arm and finally settled on the second person that was on the platform.
The gargoyle had been right. Professor Dumbledore was up here indeed. He leaned against the barrier of the platform, his body slightly sunken down as his hands clenched around the parapet, trying to keep himself up, his eyes were halfway closed. But while this picture of your headmaster itself would have already been concerning enough in any other situation, right now, you barely even noticed it. Because as soon as you had taken in the entire situation, your eyes darted back at Draco´s wand that was aimed at the Professor´s chest.
“What in Salazar´s name are you doing here?” Draco´s voice sounded strange and hollow, almost like it wasn’t his, even though he tried to stride his usual arrogant tone. But you could hear his voice shaking just like the rest of his body did.
“I was… I just wanted to…”, you stuttered. “Forget this, what are you doing here?”
You stared at Draco who had by now lowered his wand by a few centimetres, even though it was still pointing at your headmaster.
For a moment, Draco looked as if he asked himself the very same question, but in the next, he straightened his back and looked at you coldly.
“That´s none of your business, (Y/l/n). Just leave and… forget what you´ve seen here.”
You looked at Draco in disbelief. Draco wasn’t stupid by all means, but even if he would have been he couldn’t actually think for the split of a second that you could ever forget the scene in front of you. Especially as long as you didn’t know yet what exactly was going on.
“You can´t seriously think that I would leave you like this, can you?” You stared at Draco, who had some difficulty to withstand your glare. “So tell me, what is this all about.”
When Draco didn’t answer, you turned around to the Professor, still leaning against the barrier.
“Professor?”, you asked, in a much more quiet voice now. “Professor, could you tell me… Would you mind explaining to me what is going on here?"
For a moment, you thought that Dumbledore hadn’t even heard you, but then, without even opening his eyes, he said: “Oh, young Mr Malfoy and I are just having a talk about his future prospects.”
Even though his voice was weak, and Dumbledore wasn’t looking fine at all, he still managed to strike his usual chatty tone. Draco turned his head, looking at the Professor flabbergasted, confirming your suspicion that this wasn’t the entire truth. But right now, you couldn’t quite tell if Professor Dumbledore was just joking, lying to you or in such a bad constitution, that he simply wasn’t able to think straight anymore.
“Professor… Are you… Are you alright?”, you asked carefully as you eyed the headmaster. “Should I get someone? Maybe Madame Pomfrey or…”
“I really appreciate your concern Mrs (Y/l/n), but I don’t think we should involve more people than necessary in this little encounter.”
“Are you telling me to leave or…”
“I fear that this isn’t advisable, is it?”, Professor Dumbledore said. Finally, he opened his eyes and looked at Draco whose gaze flickered between you and the Professor in short distances. “If I am informed correctly, some Death Eaters have gained excess to the castle ground and even though I am positive that the members of the Order of the Phoenix will be able to cope with this inconvenience, I don’t want one of my students to bump into them.”
The professor smiled at you as if he had just told you about the arrival of an unbeloved cousin at a family gathering. You looked at him with widened eyes.
“Death Eaters? But Professor you have to.. we have to… I mean, what happened? How did they get in here? Is there anything I can do to help?”
“A very interesting story indeed. But I´m afraid we won´t have enough time to discuss the details of it right now.”
“So what do you want me to do, Professor? Please tell me.” Your voice sounded pleadingly as you looked at the headmaster who looked so different from how you used to know him. Professor Dumbledore had always appeared strong and confident, solid as a rock, but right now he looked so fragile. For the very first time, you didn’t see the powerful wizard, but the old man Dumbledore was as well.
Suddenly, the muffled sounds that were nearly drowned by the howling of the wind on the platform got louder and louder. By now you could recognize the screams and sounds of explosions as the combat sounds they were. Professor Dumbledore closed his eyes again and sighed heavily.
“I don´t think I can take the responsibility of sending one of my students down there to fight. So even though the atmosphere up here is a little tense right now, I suggest that you stay until we…”
“She can´t stay!”, Draco interrupted the headmaster forcefully. “She has to leave. I still have to obey the wishes of the Dark Lord and…” His voice broke, but still, Draco raised his wand again, pointing directly at Dumbledore´s chest.
Your thoughts were racing. Logically, you had a slight suspicion of what was going on here, yet your heart was screaming at you that this just couldn’t be true.
“Do you really want to send your friend down there, Draco?”, Dumbledore asked, as if he was actually interested in the boy´s opinion on this debate.
“She isn’t my friend.”, Draco spit out.
Even though there were many many more important things right now, you could feel your heart stinging at his words. You knew you weren’t, yet, having him saying this still hurt you.
“My mistake.”, Dumbledore said, with a faint smile on his lips. “I always assumed the two of you would get along very well.”
That´s what you had assumed as well. But once more, you were proven wrong.
Draco didn’t answer, as his gaze flickered from the Professor to you. He hesitated for a moment before he shook his head slightly.
“She can´t stay.” He locked his eyes with yours. There was a determination in his eyes you had barely ever seen before. “You can´t stay.”
“Seems like a stalemate then, doesn’t it?”, you answered.
“No, you don’t understand…”
“Exactly. I don’t understand. So better tell me what´s going on. What is this all about?”
Your voice sounded desperate, but you didn’t care. Because that´s what you were. You were desperate to know what was going on here, desperate for Draco to assure you that what was happening here wasn’t what it looked like. To assure you that the hushed rumours you had overheard in the hallways of the castle but never paid close attention to weren’t true.
“(Y/n), listen.” Even if Draco wouldn’t have had your attention before, by now he would definitely have had it. Because for the very first time he called you by your first name. It was a small detail, foolish to even pay attention to, but you just couldn’t help but notice. “This is about so much more than you can imagine right now. You have to get away from here. It´s dangerous and I can´t…”
Suddenly, some heavy steps rumbled up the stairs. You didn’t even know what was happening as you were pushed aside by an invisible force, as Dumbledore´s wandless magic pushed you into a corner and hid you behind some supplies used for the Astronomy classes. And before you could even protest, the door crashed open and some dark figures stormed onto the platform.
You remained frozen in place, trying to process everything that had happened within the last minutes, as well as the things that were still going on right in front of you. Your head was spinning, but through the haze of your mind, you caught up on some fragments of the conversation, enough to slowly put the pieces together. And as you carefully glanced around the corner, your suspicion was confirmed.
The people who had gained access to the tower were wearing dark cloaks; Death Eaters as you concluded. One of them you even recognized from the wanted posters, warning vividly against the werewolf with a strong affinity for children. Chills ran down your spine as you saw Greyback blacking his foul teeth, even more, when he took a step closer to Draco. But even though the blond Slytherin looked at the werewolf anxiously and firmly denied having knowledge of the fact that he would get into the castle tonight as well, the scene in front of you made one thing very clear. The way the four figures were talking to Draco, the fact that they hadn’t killed him yet and the fact that Draco´s wand still pointed at Professor Dumbledore´s chest, confirmed your worst fear. He was one of them. Draco Malfoy was indeed a Death Eater – or at least a confidant of them. You had known something had been off with the boy within the last months and you had known about the stories other people had told you about him, yet you had never fully believed it. How could the boy, you had spent so many hours with, had managed so many challenges with -and most importantly the boy who had been able to make you forget the rest of the world and just feel safe in his presence-; how could that boy had actually turned to the dark side? You bit your tongue until you could taste the metallic flavour of your own blood, as your thoughts were racing.
But now wasn’t the time to get distracted by the aching in your heart, when you thought about all your hopes and dreams regarding Draco splattering right in front of you. You had to shove aside all the memories of what had happened in the past and thoughts about what could have happened in the future and get your head straight again. Because what mattered the most now was the fact, that Professor Dumbledore was in grave danger – regardless of whether Draco would actually be able to fulfil the wishes of You-know-who or not. You tried to take a deep breath to stop your heart from beating way too fast and to prevent your hands from shaking. Centimetre for centimetre, your hand wandered to the pocket you kept your wand in, mentally preparing yourself to grab it immediately if any of the Death Eaters would actually try to attack Dumbledore. Deep down you knew you wouldn’t stand a chance against all four -no, five- of them, and you also knew that Dumbledore wouldn’t want any of his students to put their own lives in danger to save him; but what kind of human would you be if you wouldn’t even try? And maybe -just maybe- the Professor and you would stand a chance against the others. Dumbledore was obviously weakened, but he was still one of the most powerful wizards in the world. Plus, you had a moment of surprise on your side. And also, against all the odds, you still silently hoped that Draco might help you, once he realized you stood a chance. Or that he at least wouldn’t fight you. You vividly remembered the shock on his face when he had realized what you had gotten yourself into. How worried he had been about you, not wanting to get you hurt. At that moment, you had been sure that he actually cared about you – maybe more than you had ever thought he would and so much more than he had ever admitted. And if he only cared about you the slightest, he wouldn’t fight against you, would he? But then again, could you actually compete with the longstanding influence Draco had been under for his entire life, forcing him into thinking that whatever these people were up to right now was the right thing? You would most likely find it out soon because the situation on the platform grew more and more intense. Your hand was only centimetres away from your wand, your fingertips almost touching it. You were ready to fight. Ready to defend the Professor and…
Suddenly another person entered the platform. As he stepped out of the shadows, you breathed out in relief. Even though Professor Snape for sure wasn’t one of your favourite professors, you knew that he was loyal to Dumbledore. Maybe everything would be fine after all.
But while you just were about to relax again slightly, everything happened all at once; way too fast for you to process, yet you felt like time went by in slow motion. One of the cloaked figures approached the Professor, telling him Draco apparently wasn’t capable of executing the sheer impossible. As your eyes shifted to said boy, you could see the forlorn look in his eyes, as he looked at his favourite Professor, as if he was hoping he would be able to take this burden off his shoulders. But if Draco was hoping that Professor Snape would be able to help him and the Death Eaters didn’t attack him but talked to him like an old friend, didn’t that mean that…
But at the very same time, someone else spoke up, his voice weak and pleading, a sound that made shivers run down your spine, as Dumbledore looked up to his confidant and whispered: “Severus.”
Professor Snape´s cold eyes landed on the headmaster still leaning against the parapet. And for the first time since you had known him, the emotions the potions master felt were clearly written on his face, which was distorted to a mask of hate and disgust, as he shoved Draco to the side, who stumbled backwards, finally dropping his wand. The Death Eaters stumbled back as well, all eyes fixed on the Professor, as he came to a halt in front of Professor Dumbledore.
“Severus…”, Dumbledore´s eyes flickered through the room for a moment, coming to a halt on everyone on the platform, then a bit longer at a blank spot near the door, before they landed back on the Professor. “Please.”
As Professor Snape raised his wand, his hand was calm, as well as his voice, when he voiced the words: “Avada Kedavra.”
A green light flashed through the room, the flash hitting Dumbledore right in his chest. You saw the headmaster´s expression changing to a look of something that -in any other situation- you would have described as curiosity or maybe even pleasant surprise. But you couldn’t be sure, because it only lasted for a second, before the force of the lightning that had strutted him, made the Professor stumble backwards, until his back hit the barrier, making him lose his balance and tip over backwards. And the last thing you could see was a sparkling of his crescent-shaped glasses before the void of the night swallowed the professor.
The scream of terror was barely muffled by your hands pressed in front of your mouth. The Death Eaters however didn’t hear it, since it got lost in the sound of their laughing and cheering. Draco however seemed to have heard it, because while he had watched the entire scene with widened eyes and frozen in place, he now turned around, his eyes landing on you, as you remained pressed to the wall behind you, hands still covering your face, your eyes probably just as widened in horror as Draco´s. Time slowed down as the two of you just stared at each other and you felt a strange calmness washing over you, given the fact that he would most likely kill you on the spot after what you had just witnessed or at least tell one of his new found friends to do so.
But nothing like that ever happened. Draco just kept on looking at you, as if he was just as hypnotized by you as you were by him. Only when Professor Snape turned around on his heel, walking up to Draco, grabbing him by his neck, trying to force him through the door, Draco swayed slightly but didn’t react any further. And when Snape´s gaze followed Draco´s and his cold gaze finally settled on you, you knew you were screwed.
Your professor stared at you, his gaze by now as unfazed again as it usually was. By no means anyone who would look at him now would have guessed that this man had just murdered someone not even a minute ago. And you would be his next victim. Because if Snape was capable of murdering the headmaster, who was -no, had been- not only one of the greatest wizards of all times but also one of the people who you had always thought was the closest to the Professor; what would he then do to one of his students he barely knew and probably didn’t even like that much? You let your arms sink down slowly, ready to grab your wand and fight. You most likely wouldn’t be able to fight your way out, probably wouldn’t even be able to take down just one of them, but you knew you owned it Professor Dumbledore to at least try and fight and maybe even scar his murderer for life.
So you continued staring at the Professor, ready to defend at least his first attack. But then, Professor Snape turned around to Draco and looked at him vividly.
“We have to leave.”
Draco didn’t answer.
“Do you hear me? We leave. Now!”
When the boy still didn’t react, Snape tried to shove him out of the room, but Draco shook his arm off, his gaze still fixed on you. Snape´s gaze flickered from the boy over to you, and back to him. Then, he leant down, whispering something into Draco´s ear, who just nodded, never taking his eyes off you.
Snape turned around to the Death Eaters, who were too occupied celebrating their victory to notice what was still going on on the platform.
“Let´s get out here.”, he said, making sure all of them obeyed and had left the platform before he went through the door as well, shooting Draco one last glance, before he went down the stairs.
You remained frozen in your spot; just as well as Draco. A few seconds passed before Draco finally opened his mouth.
But before the first word could even leave his lips, suddenly you heard a strange noise on the other side of the platform. You turned your head, your hand grabbing your wand, ready to defend yourself, as Draco did just the same. Perplexed you watched, how all of the sudden, Harry Potter appeared in the corner of the room, not even shooting Draco or you a single glance before he sprinted through the door. And as he flew down the stairs you could hear how his voice was filled with just as much anger as pain as he shouted: “Snape!”
For a moment your eyes remained glued to the empty door Harry had left behind, as he had taken the chase, but then you suddenly remembered that you weren’t on your own yet. You quickly turned around to Draco, who, as he heard the small noise of your shoes on the floor, turned around again as well, as he looked at you almost confused. The boy still looked terrified, but as he saw you standing there, your back still pressed against the wall, panting, eyes widened in terror and a tight grip around your wand, his gaze softened slightly.
“(Y/n), I…”, he spoke up, taking a step towards you, but you just pressed into the wall behind you further, raising your wand.
“Don’t come closer.”, you whispered as you eyed him distrustfully. Because even though there was a small voice in your heart that was telling you that Draco would never hurt you, the facts definitely told you differently. The fact that the boy who had been about to murder someone only minutes ago and apparently was working together with the worst wizard of all time was now looking at you almost caringly and his voice sounded as soft as you had never heard it before, made him not seem like a classmate or even friend who cared about you, but more like a psychotic maniac. And the fact that he still had his wand raised, didn’t make the entire situation better.
“(Y/n), please let me…”
“No!”, you cut him off again. “Don’t come closer to me or I swear to Merlin, I´ll kill you.”
Draco gulped heavily.
“You wouldn’t.”
“I would. Better you than me.”
But deep down you knew that Draco was right. You weren’t a murderer. You weren’t capable of taking a life, especially one that you had been stupid enough to care about so much and a part of you still did care about. But still, you wouldn’t be foolish enough to let down your guard, making it even easier for Draco to take you down.
“I won´t hurt you. I… I couldn’t.”, he added in a low voice.
You didn’t answer, your eyes flickering down to his hand still clenched around his wand. You almost laughed. It was just ironic that the boy who was pointing his wand at you after you had seen what he was capable of was now trying to calm you down. How were you supposed to believe him?
And Draco seemed to realize this as well, because as his gaze followed yours, he quickly lowered his wand, before he tucked it away tightly, in a way that would make it hard for him to reach it fast enough to attack your surprisingly, but which would it also make it harder for him to defend himself if you should decide to attack him.
“Please… I can explain this. It´s not…”
“Oh, don’t tell me it´s not what it looks like. And there´s no need to explain anything. I think I already understand very well.”
“No, I swear to Salazar, you don’t.”
“Oh, so you didn’t sneak up here to…”, Your voice threatened to break as the pictures of the last moments of your headmaster flashed in front of your inner eye. You closed them for a moment, trying to get rid of the memories before you continued: “To kill him for your boss? And you didn’t help your Death Eater friends to get in here and help you? You didn’t willingly take the risk of your schoolmates -your actual friends- getting hurt, just because you´re not a man enough to do something like that on your own?”
“I didn’t want anyone to get hurt.” Draco´s voice sounded weak.
You laughed bitterly.
“So you thought they´d just knock on the door nicely?”
“I didn’t have a choice.”
"You always have a choice. We all do. But you are just too selfish to understand what it means to care for other people and to take the risk to…”
“He would have killed my family!”, Draco interrupted you vigorously. For the first time when he looked at you, you didn’t only see sorrow in his eyes, but defiance. “He told me he would kill everyone I love, starting with my mother. And as soon as he would have taken it over, he would get my father out of Azkaban and kill him as well. And then he would come here and end it with all of my friends, so don’t you dare to tell me that I´m selfish.”
You looked at the boy, mouth slightly agape. And as you saw him standing there, panting heavily, with a wild look in his eyes, you couldn’t help but for some reason believe him.
“But why… why didn’t you just ask for help?”, you asked, by now not nearly as furious as you had been a minute ago.
Draco let out a bitter laugh.
“Who do you think I could have asked? The old man?” He nodded in the direction of the barrier where Dumbledore had stood just before the betrayal by one of his narrowest confidants. His face looked hard as he said those words, yet his voice shook slightly as he mentioned your headmaster. “He didn’t even understand that Professor Snape had fooled him for years. Do you really think he would have been able to protect me and everyone else?” Draco shook his head. “I had to rely on myself with this. I might have had a choice (Y/n), but the price was too high to pay. Don’t tell me you would have done it any other way.”
You remained silent, not able to disagree with Draco. The mere thought of someone threatening to kill your family and all your friends was enough to make chills run down your spine. If the threat would be credible enough -and you had no doubt that You-know-who was an expert in this- you probably would have acted in the same way as Draco had done. To judge him for his actions wasn’t on you for sure. Also, in the end, Draco hadn’t been capable of fulfilling the wishes of his master and actually murder the professor. And probably not only because Snape pre-empted him. Draco had had plenty of time to kill the headmaster on his own, but he hadn’t done so. Even when the Death Eaters had come up here, he still hadn’t taken the wheel and had even lowered his wand – or at least that´s what you thought you had seen.
You took a deep breath and looked at Draco. By now he had buried his hands deep in his pockets and looked at you in a challenging way, yet he looked as if he was afraid of your next actions. Because in the end, now everything was on you. In the end, he was up to your mercy. If he actually wouldn’t hurt you, it would be on you to decide what you would tell the people down in the castle, who would most likely show up here any second, at least those of them who didn’t took the chase with the Death Eaters, or if you might forget some certain details that might bring Draco into a position that would be rather difficult to explain.
But to make a final decision, you needed to know one last thing. You took a step closer to Draco, who had by now lowered his gaze but glanced up at you shyly as he heard your steps.
“Would you… Could you have done it? Could you have killed him?”, you asked in a low voice.
Draco hesitated for a moment, before he shrugged his shoulders, avoiding your gaze. But this wasn’t an answer that would satisfy you and the Slytherin seemed to realize it too, because a few more moments passed before he sighed. When he spoke up again, his voice sounded more vulnerable than you had ever heard it.
“I am not a murderer.” He shook his head slightly yet determined. “I am not.”
And even though he hadn’t answered your question directly, it still was everything you needed to know.
You nodded and relaxed your tensed shoulders slightly.
“Then we should probably get down there and tell everyone what happened.”
Draco gulped heavily, but he didn’t contradict.
“We will tell them how some Death Eaters found their way into the castle and how they outnumbered Professor Dumbledore and how Professor Snape... How Professor Snape betrayed him and… and murdered him. And how they left together and how all we could do was watch.”
Draco´s gaze shot up and he looked at you with widened eyes.
“But that´s… (Y/n), that´s not what happened. You know that just as well as me.”
As you looked at the boy in front of you, all the memories of the last six years flashed through your mind. Every single one of Draco´s cruel jokes and actions, all his beliefs that he had never been afraid to voice and act on. All of this just as well as the moments when Draco hadn’t been this product of his environment but you had seen his true self shimmering through. All of the things you had been through, all of the hard work that still had felt so effortless when you had done it with him. All the afternoons you had spent in the library, all the glances and rare smiles you had shared over the years that had told you so much more about the boy in front of you than any words ever could. A small, sad smile crept on your lips as you returned his gaze.
“I mean, I don’t know about you, but I obviously don’t know any details about what happened, since I hadn’t been involved in all of this. Were you?”
The hint of a hopeful smile showed on Draco´s face, but it dropped again as soon as it had appeared.
“But Potter knows the… he knows more than you.”
You bit your lip and nodded. You didn’t know where Harry was and you sincerely hoped that he would be just fine, but the fact that he knew certain details about what had happened might become a problem. A problem for Draco. But also for you. Because for some reason, you didn’t want anyone to ever know the truth. Or at least for now. Because you didn’t want Draco to get expelled, or worse, sent to Azkaban for what he had done -or more precisely had needed to do. And not only because there was a part of you that was screaming at you to not let him go. Because you for some reason felt safe with him. Because for some reason you knew that you needed him here and because you were scared of what would happen to him if he would leave. However, you also knew that this wasn’t what Professor Dumbledore would have wanted for him. The headmaster had always loved his students dearly and had always been ready to protect them. And if you had understood it correctly, he had been willing to help Draco out of his misery until the very last second. You knew that Dumbledore wouldn’t have wanted Draco to face a dark fade and that he had still believed in him. And if no one else was there to carry on this belief anymore, then you would be more than willing to be that person. Maybe this was just a way to justify your actions, but deep down you had a sincere feeling that Professor Dumbledore would have actually wanted this.
“I mean… Harry was in shock. After everything he has seen… And he already distrusted you, so it would have been easy for him to misinterpret this situation….”
But before you could continue, Draco cut you off harshly.
“No, (Y/n). I won´t let you do this. I mean, if we stick to the original story, you can say that I talked you into believing this version of truth. That I made you trust me. You don’t have to actually lie for this. But if you do it that way… That´s wrong. And I won´t let you do this and maybe even ruin your life just for me.”
“But I would do it. It´s a plan, Draco.”
You looked at the boy pleadingly, as he took a step closer until he was standing right in front of you and smiled down at you sadly, the unknown softness in his eyes almost making your heart melt.
“It might be a plan, but it´s a stupid one, love.”
“Well, you can´t tell me what to say.”, you said illiberally.
“And you can´t tell me either. So if you really want to go down this path, I will tell them the truth. And not your interpretation, but everything.”, he said in a voice, that was way too calm for the fact that he had just threatened to confess attempted murder.
“That would be stupid.”
Draco shrugged his shoulders.
“It might be. But I think it´s worth it if that means you won´t do something just as stupid.”
You looked at him with narrowed eyes and tilted your head slightly.
“Why do you even care?”, you whispered, as you eyed the boy closely.
Draco hesitated for a moment, looked as if he wanted to say something, as his gaze grew even softer for a second, giving away so much more than you could understand at this moment, before he suddenly pulled back, his face hardening again.
“I don’t think we have time for this now. I need to leave before they get me.”
For a moment you felt slightly disappointed at the loss of his closeness, yet you knew that this wasn’t the right moment for those thoughts for many reasons.
“But where do you even want to go?”
Draco shifted from one foot to the other.
“Professor Snape told me about a place. I just need to apparate there.”
“You can´t apparate on school´s ground.”, you contradicted.
“The entire school is flapping right now. I can easily sneak out.”
“That´s the point. Everyone is on their feet. If someone sees you…”
“They don’t know what happened yet.”
“You can´t know that´s.”
“I´m afraid that this is a risk I have to take.”
“Let me join you.”
Draco looked at you as if you had completely lost your mind. Then he shook his head firmly.
“There´s no way. This is way too dangerous. You should just get back to your dorm and…”
“I won´t go there now for sure. I´ll join you, Draco. I won´t leave you alone now.”
Silence.
“Just to the border. I won´t even leave the ground.”
You crossed your arms in front of your chest and withstood Draco´s glance until the boy sighed in defeat.
“You won´t leave the ground. Not even one step. And if something happens, you get back right away. Promised?”
You nodded, even though you knew just as well as Draco, if it would all come down, you would break your promise anyway.
You tiptoed down the stairs of the Astronomy Tower. The silence that surrounded you was almost ghostly. As you wandered down the empty corridors, some broken glass that used to cover the windows to your sides crunched under your feed. Neither Draco nor you said a word, each of you lost in your own thoughts. You were still wondering if what you were just doing was the right thing. Because after all, Draco apparently had been the one to make all of this possible. But after everything he had told you; could you really blame him for what he had done? But then again; how could you be so sure that he had told you the truth? That he wasn’t just using you to get out of the castle safely? You already knew the answer, or at least your very subjective answer to this question. Draco had tried to protect you. He hadn’t given you away when the Death Eaters had come to the tower and he had stayed with you, rather than leaving with them, even though he couldn’t be sure that that wouldn’t be his end. And as you glanced at the boy beside you, lips pursed and hands still shaking slightly, while his eyes wandered around restlessly, you somehow knew that your choice was the right one. Suddenly, you heard a loud banging, not far from you. You flinched, immediately raising the hand that was clutched around your wand, while the other one intuitively reached for Draco´s. You were turning your head to both sides, eyes opened wide, searching for any potential threat, but no one was in sight, neither friend, nor foe. You soon started to relax slightly, as you looked at Draco, who returned your gaze, with the slightest grin on his face. Only then you realized that you were still holding on to him. As soon as the realization hit you, you wanted to let go, but Draco prevented you from doing so, by catching your hand again, intertwining his fingers with yours, while the grin on his face only widened. You couldn’t help the blush creeping on your cheeks as he looked at you. For the first time this night, you could see a small fraction of the sparkle in his eyes again, that you always used to adore so much. You knew for sure that your timing couldn’t be worse, yet you could feel the butterflies erupting in your stomach as his thump tenderly brushed over the back of your hand while his eyes never left yours. It felt like years, yet only seconds had passed until Draco finally broke the eye contact and cleared his throat.
“We should really leave now. It isn’t safe here.”
And even though you knew that he was right, you couldn’t help but feel slightly disappointed as Draco continued his way, yet you noticed that his hand still held on tightly to yours, making you feel like you would follow him to the end of the world if he would only continue doing so.
By now, you had almost reached the courtyard. Soon, Draco and you would have to say goodbye, and you feared this moment more than anything.
But just as you turned around the next corner, you suddenly felt a flash of warm light buzzing past you, only centimetres away from your ear and exploding in the wall behind you. And if it wouldn’t have been for Draco pulling you back, it would have hit you directly.
You stumbled against Draco´s chest, not even realizing what was happening, as Draco shoved you behind him, raising his wand, ready to defend you.
“Tonks, no! These are students!”, you suddenly heard a familiar voice. And Draco seemed to recognize it as well because he stopped his movements and carefully glanced around the corner.
And as you tiptoed to catch a glimpse over Draco´s shoulder, you sighed in relief. You pulled Draco, who remained frozen in place, around the corner and walked up to the people standing in the middle of the corridor.
“Professor Lupin!”, you called out, a small smile creeping on your face as you saw your favourite Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher standing there with a just as relieved smile on his face. He looked haggard and had a few scratches on his face, but apart from that, he seemed to be uninjured.
“Miss (Y/l/n), Mr Malfoy, are you alright?”, he asked, scanning the two of you with narrowed eyes for any injuries.
“We´re just fine.”, you nodded and forced yourself to smile once more, while Draco stood right next to you, holding onto your hand tightly, not daring to say a word.
“Sorry for that.”, the woman who had thrown the curse at you said with a wry smile. “Thought you were one of them.”
“Apparently Death Eaters have attacked the school.”, Lupin explained to you. The grin on his face was wiped away quickly at his words. “We don’t know how they came in here or what they want but by now they seem to be gone.”
You nodded.
“We saw them.”
“Have they seen you? Did you fight? Do you know if any of them are still in here? Is anyone hurt?”
You bit your lip and glanced at Draco, whose gaze was fixed on the ground.
“I think they are all gone, but Professor…” You took a deep breath. “There is something I have to tell you. Professor Dumbledore… I don’t know how… He is… Professor Dumbledore is…”
Suddenly you heard some loud voices.
“Remus! Tonks! Over here! Quick!”
The Professor turned around immediately. Then he looked at you once more with a grave expression on his face.
“Listen, I want the two of you to get to the Hospital Wing. We´ll meet there and you´ll tell me everything, alright?”
You were barely able to nod before Lupin and Tonks rushed in the opposite direction.
After they turned around the next corner, you turned around to Draco, who still didn’t move. His eyes looked suspiciously glossy and he didn’t dare to look up at you. You tucked his hand carefully.
“Let´s get you out of here.”, you said in a soft voice, as you waited for him to react. And soon, Draco obeyed, and you continued your way out of the castle.
Without any further interruptions and much too fast for your taste, you finally reached the border of the castle´s ground. In the dim light coming from the castle, you could barely see anything, but maybe it was better this way because if you would have seen the look on Draco´s face in any more detail than you did now, it would have probably broken your heart than it already did and you wouldn’t have been able to let him go after all.
For a few moments, you just stood next to each other, staring at the line, where the grass of the meadows morphed into the woods of the forbidden forest; the one place no student was allowed to go. But tonight, you would have overstepped any boundary if this would mean that you could just stay with Draco, making sure he would be okay. But you knew he wouldn’t let you, and somewhere deep down you also knew that this was for the best, even though you didn’t want to admit it.
Finally, Draco slowly loosened the grip he still had on you, until your arm was falling to your side again, feeling cold and useless without his touch.
“So, that´s it?”, you whispered into the silence, not daring to look at Draco yet.
The boy nodded, even though you couldn’t see.
“That´s it.”, he confirmed, trying to hide the shaking threatening to take over in his voice.
As you turned around to look at him and saw his silhouette tensing as his shoulders trembled, you felt your eyes starting to sting as you shook your head in denial. You knew that this was probably the only way, yet now, that it was actually about time for Draco to leave, you just felt like your heart couldn’t take it. How could you let him go if you didn’t know what was going to happen? Maybe if he would stay, if he would explain everything – maybe then there would be a happy end after all. But if he would leave now, there was no turning back, and you didn’t even dare to think about what might happen to him under the command of You-know-who.
“This can´t be it.”, you said. Your voice sounded desperate, as the tears forming in your eyes threatened to fall. “This can´t be the end.”
“This isn’t the end (Y/n). It´s just… it´s going to be different now.”
“I don’t want to lose you.”, you sniffed.
Draco stepped closer to you and cupped your face in his hands. By now he was close enough that you could see almost each of his details clearly, even in the dim light and through the daze of the tears.
“You won´t, love. I promise. I´m yours and I will find a way to get back to you. Whatever it takes.”
Even though you could feel your heart breaking, at the very same moment, you could also feel it beating faster.
“You´re mine?”, you asked with a small smirk.
Draco forced himself to return your wry smile.
“I´m all yours. I´ve always been. I´ve just been too much of an idiot to admit.” He let out a low chuckle before he grew serious again. “But as soon as I´ll get back to you, I´ll be whatever you want me to be.” He hesitated for a moment before he added: “If you want me at all.”
You tilted your head slightly, giving in to the feeling of his hand that was still cupping your cheek. Your eyes closed fluttery at the feeling of his warm skin against yours, but you opened them again and locked your eyes with his, not blinking once, as you returned: “I do.”
You could see a small smile playing around Draco´s lips at your words, and it only grew wider as you added: “And the only thing I want you to be is yourself. I always did and I always will.”
“Even after everything that happened tonight?” His voice sounded raspy, full of regret as he thought about how close he had been to losing it all tonight.
“Do you really think I got you out of there just so you can live your happily ever after without me?”, you tried to tease him, but even though Draco´s lips twitched upwards for a second, he remained serious.
“Couldn’t have it without you anyway, love.”
You smiled at him sweetly.
“That´s just what I wanted to hear.”
Then finally, Draco returned your smile, somewhat wholehearted, for a moment forgetting all of the trouble that lay behind him and ahead. And when his gaze flickered from your eyes to your lips for a second, you gave the boy a small nod, before he leaned closer, until he finally closed the gap between the two of you.
The feeling of Draco´s lips on yours let you forget everything else, as they slowly started moving against yours. His hands wandered from your cheeks to your hips, pulling you closer, while yours wandered up his chest and sneaked around his neck, with the very same intention. At this very moment, everything felt like it was just like it was supposed to be - as if nothing else mattered. You knew that whatever would happen next -whatever challenge you would have to face- as long as you knew that Draco was with you and you were with him, everything would just work out somehow.
After what felt like an eternity, you finally pulled back, panting heavily, but smiling brightly, nevertheless. Draco wrapped his arms around you, pulling you impossibly close, as he buried his face in the crook of your neck. You let out a comfortable sigh as you nuzzled your face into his chest, inhaling his intoxicating scent.
“I promise I won´t leave you, (Y/n). Even when I´m away, I´ll always be with you.”, he mumbled, his breath tickling your neck.
You nodded and hummed in response.
“I know.”
When you loosened your grip and took a step back, you saw Draco smiling down at you with so much admiration that you thought your heart might explode any second. But as you turned your head and looked at the castle, you saw some small lights somewhere in the distance, slowly coming closer.
“I think you should leave now.”, you said, smiling at Draco sadly.
The boy followed your gaze and nodded. He pressed a small kiss on your lips before he looked at you.
“Just promise me, you won´t forget me when I´m gone, will you?”
You nodded and smirked.
“How could I? You´ll leave all the homework Flitwick has given to us to me. I won´t forget that very soon.”
Draco chuckled.
“I hope you got some more pleasant memories with me now than doing homework.”
“I think I´ll be able to think of something.”, you smiled.
Draco nodded and returned your smile, before he took your hand into his larger ones, placing a ghostly kiss on your knuckles, making you shiver.
“Goodbye, my love.”, he said, before letting go of your hand and walking towards the woods. You watched him closely, wanting to take in every single detail about him for as long as you could.
And just when he had passed the border, you spoke up again.
“Draco? You will be okay, won´t you?”
The boy turned around to you again and smiled at you.
“Don´t worry, love. I got something worth to coming back to now.”
“You promise?”
“I promise. I´ll be back before you can even start to miss me.”
“Then you wouldn’t be able to leave at all.”
“I told you, I won´t leave. I´ll be with you. Always.”
You nodded. But there was still one thing left to say. One thing that you should have told the boy who meant so much to you, a very long time ago, and that might have changed things – at least between the two of you for the better.
“But Draco, just so you know I… I l…”
But before you could even finish your sentence, Draco cut you off.
“I know, love. This isn’t the time for this. But someday you will tell me and I´ll tell you too, and I swear to Salazar, I´ll never get tired of it, yes?”
You nodded.
“Yeah.”
A soft breeze blew through the trees around you, making you shiver. Draco smiled at you as you crossed your arms in front of your chest, trying to shield yourself from the cold. One day, he would be there, to do so for you; to protect you, not only from the cold but every harm out there. He just knew it and deep down, you felt it too. And for that reason, the smile on your face didn’t fade when your gaze wasn’t fixed on Draco anymore but on the empty ground, he had stood on only seconds ago, leaving behind the promise of a happily ever after for the both of you.

Horrortober Day 13
I´m actually kind of enjoying getting out of my comfort zone a bit and writing for characters I haven´t before. It´s fun to think about what they might be like as yanderes ^^ With some of these prompts it took a while to figure out what character would fit best but for this one it was immediately clear that it had to be Cater. Hope you guys enjoy!!
Prompt and challenge by @pastelbirb and @yandere-sins!
Link to my Horrortober masterlist here!
Day 13: Picture --> “You look so pretty in this picture.”
tw yandere, tw imprisonment, taking pictures without consent, stalking
Tumblr media
Your eyes were straining to stay open as another bright flash went off right in front of you, momentarily blinding you. Despite you begging Cater to at least turn the flash off if he was going to take pictures of you, he insisted that it was necessary if he wanted the end result to turn out perfect. You could bear it for just a little more, couldn´t you?
You couldn´t very well do anything to defy him even if you wanted to protest, your hands and feet were bound to the chair you were sitting on, rendering you unable to move. Another encouraging smile from Cater, another flash from his phone. This had been going on for the last 2 hours now but whenever he checked his gallery to judge the photos taken, he was never quite satisfied with them, judging from the way the corners of his mouth pulled downwards.
There was another stop in the constant flashing of light when he once again slightly turned away from you to check on the photos. An annoyed sigh left his lips and he looked disappointed. “Darling, you know I will never untie you if you keep being so difficult. You´re frowning in every picture I took of you when I know how absolutely radiant your usual smile is. Why can´t you try a little harder and smile for me? It would all become way easier for the both of us.”
“Well excuse me if I can´t bring myself to smile when I´ve been kidnapped and tied to a chair while pictures are taken of me against my will!”, you snapped back against him, just utterly frustrated at the entire situation. You wanted no part in all of this, why couldn´t Cater see reason and finally let you go? He clearly wasn´t getting the results he was hoping for in the first place, so all of this has been completely useless from the very beginning!
“Don´t be difficult, y/n”, he frowned, displeased by your continued efforts to ruin this wonderful moment for him. “It just couldn´t be helped. If I want to upload the pictures I took of you to Magicam you should actually be aware that I´m taking them this time. And for that I just had to make sure you wouldn´t run away so all of this was necessary, okaaay?” He smiled cheerfully while swiping on his phone, sighing dreamily as he moved his hand so you could also take a glance at the screen even from your position.
“You look so pretty in this picture, it almost takes my breath away! So why oh why can´t I seem to recreate it! All of my followers need to see how beautiful my darling is ~”
The picture in question made you raise your eyebrows as soon as you saw it, it showed you happily eating cake in the wonderful garden area of the Heartslabyul dorm. In the picture you weren´t gazing at the camera at all, way too immersed in your own little happy world filled only with the delectable sweet treat right in front of you. And that was partially because you weren´t even aware the picture was taken. In fact, you weren´t even aware that there was another person close to you in the first place! From the way that a quarter of the screen was covered by green leaves obscuring the view it would be obvious to anyone seeing the picture that it was taken while hiding behind a bush of sorts in attempt to sneakily catch a picture of you without you being any wiser of it.
Your stomach twisted uncomfortably at the realization that Cater had taken photos of you when you thought you were alone. It brought up the question how many more pictures he might have taken that you didn´t know about. Just how much had he been stalking you? Have you ever been truly alone? Truly anything was possible with his unique magic Split Card, he could just create as many clones of himself as he wished at any point in time. He could have been spying on you from the very start and the though of it was so disturbing to you.
“Now you understand, don´t you? I want everyone to see the beauty of you but I can´t show them this one. It would be a huge scandal if one of the biggest influencers turned out to be a stalker, eh?” You just shook your head in disbelief while he continued smiling, it looked even more ominous now that you knew what he had been doing all this time. And the fact that he even called himself a stalker meant he was lucid enough to realize what he was doing was wrong and yet he still continued anyway. You were speechless.
“You- you stalked me?!”
“Haha I did indeed, sorry ~”, and he had the audacity to laugh about it too. “But that will all stop if you just cooperate and smile for the camera, you see? So be good and give me the smile I love so much! Show everyone how happy you are to be with me!”
With a smile he then went to walk beside you and turned his camera around to take a selfie. His smile was blinding and with the way he tightly wrapped his arm around you he clearly wanted you to do the same. So you tried to put on your best smile just so it would all be over soon, hoping it wouldn´t look too strained.
The flash went off one more time and Cater pressed a kiss against your cheek, delighted at your obedience.
“That´s right darling, together we will become the cutest couple there is~”

Danny claims Phantom is his boyfriend to save him from his parents’ operation table, but Jack and Maddie won't make it that easy for them
Phantom passed out beneath the electrifying force of a ghost net, frightened and angry and hurt, so when he woke up, the howl that had been trapped in his chest burst free. He screamed, using all the power he could force through his vocal cords. His ghostly wail. Panicked shouting erupted. Someone yelled about a sedative. Phantom yelled louder, fear making him desperate.
If they knocked him out again before he had a chance to escape--
A warm body fell over him, chest to chest, core to heart. "Phantom, stop!"
The power Phantom had been channeling into his throat recoiled, cancelled itself out. His scream, absent of any real power, became that of a frightened teenager, and, embarrassingly, when he stopped screaming, it turned into a sob.
"It's okay," the human--Danny--said. He stroked warm fingers through Phantom's hair. "It's okay." Quieter then, whispered quickly into his ear, Danny added, "I have a plan."
Phantom's mind was too frazzled to make any sense of what that could mean, but if Danny was there...Phantom couldn't destroy whatever lab he was in without killing his friend in the process. Lashing out against the ones that had hurt him was no longer an option.
"Danny," Phantom gasped, his voice raw, slightly scratchy. Phantom turned his head until his cheek could press against Danny's, stealing a moment's guilty pleasure. To his surprise, Danny didn't pull away.
In fact, he pressed closer and turned his head toward Phantom in return. Phantom felt Danny's lips brush against his cheek, and he was so startled he almost missed those lips moving as Danny urgently whispered, "Play along."
Phantom pried his eyes open. "What?"
Jack appeared above them. Phantom tensed as the man's hardened eyes met his. Those dark blue eyes softened as they slid to his son, however. "Okay, Danny." Jack clamped a large hand over Danny's shoulder. "You made your point."
Danny slowly lifted himself off Phantom.
Phantom wanted to protest or at least wrap his arms around Danny to stop him--an impossible desire since there was something pinning his wrists to the examination table--but one look at Jack's wary face warned Phantom not to press his luck. Phantom reluctantly endured the loss of Danny's body heat and the comfort he had offered as a shield between Phantom and Danny's parents.
Before he could feel too abandoned, however, Danny's hand grabbed Phantom's and squeezed. Phantom fought against the urge to widen his eyes.
"Play along" Danny had said. Danny wanted Phantom to follow his lead, and right now, that apparently meant...holding hands.
To test that theory, Phantom spread his fingers apart. Danny's fingers slotted into the resulting gap and folded over the back of Phantom's hand. Phantom could feel his cheeks getting cold, and he desperately hoped he wasn't blushing in front of Danny's parents.
"So that's it?" Danny asked, his tone somehow conveying wariness and hope at the same time. "You'll let him go?"
Maddie sighed. Phantom heard her footsteps, and he turned his head to watch her approach. He couldn't see her eyes since, unlike Jack, she had pulled her hood up, but the straight, thin line of her lips gave Phantom the impression she was unhappy about something.
"With restrictions," she said. She pressed a button on the side of the table, and the force holding Phantom's wrists and ankles to the table vanished. He sat up quickly--too quickly for the ghost hunters because they flinched back--and scooted closer to Danny, holding tight to the human's hand. The hunters watched him, waiting, but when Phantom didn't move any farther or try to fly away, they exchanged frowns with each other.
"Restrictions?" Danny asked.
In answer, Maddie held out a metal bracelet. Like the Fenton Thermos, the seems along the metal sheet were green, filled with ectoplasm that ran along the circular design. "To suppress his powers."
Phantom wrinkled his nose and glared at the device. Why she was handing it to Danny instead of clamping it over Phantom's wrist herself, prior to letting him go, Phantom didn't understand, but if they were expecting Danny to put that on him, they were in for a surprise.
Indeed, Danny accepted the device but didn't clamp it to Phantom's wrist. "Can we go now?" he asked.
Maddie's lips pressed even tighter together.
Jack wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "We'll be talking about this more in the morning, young man."
"Right." Danny stepped away from the table and tugged on Phantom's arm, urging him to follow. "Looking forward to it."
Phantom didn't trust his legs to support him, so, even though the ghost hunters were watching him with narrowed eyes and frowning lips, Phantom levitated off the table and floated after Danny. Danny was walking fast, faster than Phantom could fly at the moment, but Phantom had no complaints about the speed even though Danny was dragging him through the air. He glanced warily behind them. Jack and Maddie were still watching them...but they weren't following and they hadn't pulled out an antighost device.
Danny trotted up the stairs, cutting off Phantom's view.
Just as well, Phantom thought, shivering.
That he had woken up in one piece after the hunters who swore to tear him apart had finally captured him was surprise enough, but that they were letting him go? And in their son's company? With no supervision?
They were halfway through the living room when the question finally burst free of Phantom's control. "What did you tell them?"
Danny glanced at him over his shoulder, met Phantom's eyes, before jerking his head back around. His pace didn't slow. "I, uh...Once we get to my room. I can fill you in then."
Although Phantom could no longer see Danny's face, the back of the human's neck and the tips of his ears had darkened to a suspicious pink color.
He's blushing, Phantom realized. He glanced down at their still clasped hands and felt his own blush, much colder and greener than the human variety, flood his cheeks.
He stopped floating after Danny but didn't let go of his hand, forcing Danny to jerk to a halt. "Danny..." he said, voice low, "what did you tell them?"
Danny hunched his shoulders and ducked his head. Phantom floated around to his front, but Danny turned his head away. "I...they, uh, they were going to experiment on you, and I, um, I might have panicked. A little."
"Okay..." Phantom urged, speaking gently, "I'm not ungrateful, Danny. You probably saved my life! Well, afterlife. But how did you convince them to stop? They've been threatening to tear me apart pretty much since I arrived in your dimension."
Danny glanced at Phantom from the corner of his eye. "Promise you uh..." Danny winced and pinched his eyes closed. "Promise you won't get mad?"
Phantom raised an eyebrow. "I promise."
Danny breathed in deeply. "Itoldthemweweredating."
As garbled as the words were, Phantom heard the last one all-too clearly. His levitation cancelled out and he dropped to the floor. As he had expected, his legs collapsed under him and he fell forward, into Danny. Danny let go of Phantom's hand and wrapped his arms around Phantom's shoulders, supporting him as Phantom clung to his shirt.
"D-dating?" Phantom gasped. "We're dating?"
Had he missed something? Wasn't there a...process? He was sure kissing would have been involved at some point. A confession of feelings at the very least.
"No!" Danny said hurriedly. "Well...uh, kind of? My parents think we are so we have to pretend, but...it's just pretend. Don't freak out!"
"Oh." Did he sound too disappointed? Hopefully all Danny heard was his confusion and not Phantom's rising hope shattering on the floor. He shifted his feet, eager to pull away from Danny, but his legs weren't as steady as he would like. He managed to stand on his own only by virtue of holding onto Danny's shirt. "And they were okay with that?"
Danny wrinkled his nose. He started to pull his arms away, stopped, and settled them around Phantom's shoulders again as a loose hug.
Phantom felt a swooping sensation in his stomach.
"Not so much 'okay' as..." Danny bit his lip as he thought, trying to put Jack's and Maddie's reactions into words. "I don't know...They're letting me get away with it, but I think they might be testing us."
"Testing us?"
Danny removed one arm from his loose embrace and held up the cuff Maddie had given him between them. Phantom flinched back, almost pulling out of Danny's hug.
Almost.
Danny glared at the device, as distrustful as Phantom. "If you're still here tomorrow morning, with this suppressing your powers, then they'll know we're serious about being in a relationship. If you're not...they'll start hunting you again. And...I'm not sure I could stop them a second time."
Phantom shivered. He had been strapped to their examination table once already. If Danny hadn't been there...he didn't want to think about it. "Without my powers," he said slowly, "I will be helpless. I will have to trust you to keep me safe and them to keep their word."
Danny nodded unhappily.
Phantom eyed the device.
On one hand, he didn't trust the Fenton adults. They had never shown him an ounce of kindness or understanding. They had been willing to electrocute him into unconsciousness and strap him to a table without any consideration for him as a person. Who knew what else they had planned to do with him once he was in their clutches.
On the other hand...he wanted to earn their respect. He wanted to work with them to protect the town from ghosts, he wanted their help understanding his own powers, he wanted to no longer fear them. The cuff and Danny's offer represented a chance wherein things could get better if he just had the courage.
And...fake though it would be, the idea of dating Danny even for the sake of his safety appealed to him greatly. Just holding his hand had made Phantom's soul soar. What more would Danny allow to maintain the illusion of a relationship?
Cuddling?
Kissing?
Phantom's cheeks frosted and he quickly pushed the thought aside. Danny was only doing it to protect him. Phantom didn't want to take advantage of Danny's kindness, no matter how tempting. Bad enough he would be going into the fake relationship with secret feelings for Danny, he didn't need to make things worse for Danny by asking for a kiss in front of his parents.
Even if Phantom's daydreams of such a thing were deeply thrilling...
He couldn't pass up this chance. A chance to prove himself to the ghost hunters and date their son? At the same time? He had to take it. It was everything he wanted, what he had dreamed about every time he flew past Fenton Works.
Phantom sighed and reached for the cuff.
Instead of handing it to him, Danny jerked it closer to his chest, his eyes wide. "Phantom?"
"The benefits outweigh the risks, don't you think?" Phantom whispered. "I can't pass up this chance." Instead of reaching for the cuff again, Phantom turned his hand over, holding out his palm. "Just keep me safe. I trust you."
Danny searched his expression, but Phantom's resolve was strong, held in place as much by his attraction to Danny as by his desire to be accepted by the Fentons. Danny's shoulders slumped. Reluctantly, he placed the cuff in Phantom's hand.
"If anything happens to you because of this--" Danny began, only to cut himself off. He grimaced. "Phantom..."
Phantom glanced up from the cuff and smiled reassuringly at Danny. "I'll be fine. Just watch, by this time next week, you will actually be in love with me and your parents will declare me part of the family!"
Before Danny had a chance to respond, Phantom snapped the cuff shut.
Pain exploded inside him. He screamed, falling to his knees. Danny dropped to the floor beside him, calling his name. He held onto Phantom's arms and stared anxiously at his face, beautiful blue eyes wide and frightened.
"I'm fine," Phantom gasped, staring into those eyes. "I'm fine. It's just. Rebound. I was. I was healing myself. The energy I was using started burning. But I'm fine. I'm fine."
So long as he didn't use his powers.
Apparently, the cuff didn't so much suppress his powers as make using them painful. That was good, because if his or Danny's life was ever truly in danger, Phantom could still save them.
It was bad because...it felt a little like a shock collar.
Phantom cringed. Shivered.
Before he could say anything else, Danny wrapped his arms around Phantom's neck and hugged him tight. Phantom froze for a moment, stunned. Danny had never hugged him before. Not like that.
We're supposed to be dating, he reminded himself. Hugging is part of the package.
Phantom's stomach swooped again. He slipped his own arms around Danny's waist before Danny could get any ideas about pulling away too soon and returned the tight embrace, turning his head so he could press his face against Danny's neck. It was a little awkward, what with the way they were both sitting on their knees, forced to lean forward to maintain the hug, but Phantom didn't think he could convince Danny to climb onto his lap just yet.
For that matter, if Phantom tried climbing onto Danny's, the human might squeak and retreat in a flustered panic.
 "You sure you're okay?" Danny whispered.
"Yes." Phantom felt Danny shiver in his arms, likely due to Phantom's speaking the word against his neck, but Phantom couldn't bear to leave the warmth of his embrace yet. "I'll tell you more once you get to your room." He hesitated. "I can't heal or use more powers anymore, though. Can you..."
"Carry you?"
"Yes."
"Yeah." Danny broke the embrace but didn't go far. He shifted around Phantom until he was pressed against his side, one arm wrapping around his shoulders. "Lean back," he instructed. "I have to get your legs."
Phantom leaned backward, delighted to feel Danny's arm catching him, holding him. He untucked his legs from under himself, and as soon as his knees were in position, Danny slid his arm under them.
"Ready?" Danny asked.
Phantom nodded.
It was strange to be lifted by someone else rather than by his own powers, but as Phantom found himself cradled in Danny's arms, held securely against his chest, he couldn't resist smiling. He had wondered what it would feel like.
Danny climbed to his feet--an unsteady movement that prompted Phantom to wrap an arm around Danny's neck--and looked toward the staircase. "This might get a little awkward," he warned.
Phantom laid his head on Danny's shoulder and let out a quiet breath. "Yeah," he agreed. The staircase was narrow, but Phantom suspected Danny's strength was about to be tested as well. "Take your time. No hurry here."
Danny snorted. "Right. You just rest, I'll do all the hard work."
"For once."
Danny laughed. "Who just saved your life?"
"My boyfriend."
Danny cleared his throat, a blush coloring his cheeks again. “Yeah. Right. I’ll just…” He walked toward the staircase, his eyes carefully avoiding Phantom’s. “I guess I should...get used to to being called that.” His blush worsened. “Your boyfriend. Oh man…”
“It was your idea,” Phantom reminded him mercilessly. He closed his eyes and tried to keep his smile from looking too besotted. He suspected he would regret the ruse later, once his feelings felt thoroughly played, but for now it was enough to feel Danny’s arms around him as he carried him up the stairs, safe and with the potential of turning the Fentons from enemies to allies within reach.

Fall to Me
TBH I realize belatedly after writing this that Truth was fomenting chaos in my soul and it needed to be taken the fuck out with a proverbial shotgun
Anyway here's a fic that was based off of Truth and without knowledge of the rest of S4 so far, just in case nothing makes sense
I also know I promised smangst (smut + angst) but I got tired/lazy and @mintaka14 posted something I felt was eerily similar (or just reminded me I needed to get this done) so I wanted to get this out the door
Read on AO3 here!
Rated M for language I guess?
Luka was in a precarious situation. He was lying half-naked on Marinette's chaise, with Marinette herself lying half-naked on him. She let out a quiet sleepy giggle when she brushed her thigh against his raging hard-on, still unfortunately trapped under his over-tight jeans. His neck felt sore where she'd bitten him and he figured there'd be a pretty obvious bruise there soon.
His chest was also similarly marked.
He woke up like this. He had woken up when he had needed to sneeze because some hair got all up in his face. He then realized he had a whole-ass person on top of him. And that person was the girl he had been in love with for years. He had gently brushed away her hair and she had hummed out a "Mmmm, Luuuuka," that got him hot-and-bothered and unable to go back to sleep. He kinda didn't want to wake her in fear of this whole precarious situation blowing up in his face.
This all started a week ago with Dingo, that fucker. Well, sort of. Maybe. Maybe that was all circumstantial. But Dingo had 2 extra tickets to The Bondsmiths and Ding had given them to Luka. Juleka was busy with stuff, his Ma wasn't into this newfangled noise, Ivan wouldn't go without Mylene, Mylene was in Spain on vacation, Rose was "stuff," and if Dingo was involved most of Luka's other friends wouldn't be.
He'd just thrown it out into a group chat "Hey I have an extra ticket anyone want to come?" and Marinette was the one that said "me~!" Luka and Dingo had a tense stare off when Dingo handed over the tickets.
Her? Dingo's sharp brown eyes seemed to say.
Luka stared back coolly. Yes. We're friends.
Dingo fucking smirked. How much longer, eh? Cheers, mate. He gave the tickets to Luka with a smarmy wink.
The night of the showing Luka got stuck being the designated driver. He was used to it. The concert area was indoors and packed. Ding almost got shitfaced and Brielle had to keep him from falling over. At least the sets were fantastic. When the concert was closing at around 02:34 Ding and Brielle were having sloppy disgusting make-outs, making both Luka and Marinette ever so slightly uncomfortable.
That was when it all started getting weird. Weirder.
Brielle came up for air and told Luka that she and Ding would take a cab back, so all Luka would need to do was drop off Marinette. Luka shrugged and did just that, but Marinette invited him up to crash at her place because it was already so late and he looked so tired. He was about to pass on that when Marinette mentioned that her parents were on vacation in China and wouldn't be back for a whole month, just… out of the blue.
Before he could formulate any sort of coherent response she took his hand and pulled him up the stairs to the living room, sat him on the couch, started brewing some chamomile tea for the both of them, and talked about the concert. Marinette smiled at him after handing him a mug and short-circuited his brain again. "That was fun!"
"I'm glad you enjoyed," Luka smiled back, sipping his tea.
She sat down next to him and brushed her hair back over her ear. A shiny black earring seemed to glimmer with the light it caught. "I'm really glad I was able to go with you."
His head was empty except for noticing the light blush she had on her cheeks. She looked up at him with her big blue eyes, and somehow Luka got the sense that she was… expecting something? Oh, a response, duh. "Same. It's always nice to hang out with you."
She smiled, drank the rest of her tea and set it aside. "Luka, can I kiss you?"
… What? Wow, alright he was tired. He thought he heard her ask him if she could kiss him. He was already in the half-asleep pseudo-dream state and probably imagined that whole thing. Goddamn he was such a simp for her. "Heh," he said noncommittally.
Marinette blinked at him. "Is that a… a no?"
"Hmm?"
She scooted closer to him and he took a big gulp of his tea to hide his nervousness. "You… don't want me to kiss you?"
Oh God he heard that correctly. He sputtered and coughed, covering his mouth with a fist. "Wh-what?" He blushed hard.
She blushed as well. "Sorry! I'm sorry. I-I-I thought… um."
Several years ago they had tried to date but she'd always been… unavailable. So they kept hanging out as friends, which was… fine. It was fine. They'd never even gotten to really do anything together as a couple but as friends? It went better.
He wasn't over her. Never tried to convince himself he was. But he also honestly hadn't expected her to want to get back together. So… what changed? She sighed heavily, her complexion calming back down. "Nothing changed. Not really." She looked down toward the floor at her feet and he finally realized he asked that last thought out loud. "I… maybe I guess I did." She looked back up at him. "I've been thinking lately that I just want… to do something for me, for once. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to…" She trailed off and stared back at the floor.
"I've never stopped wanting to be with you." Oh shit he said it. She looked back up at him and he awkwardly took another swallow of tea and looked away. "Sounds bad. I guess it is," he said eventually.
"But you didn't tell me?"
He met her eyes. "You were happy. You were with Adrien. I can't force my feelings on you."
She took a breath and let it out slowly. "I was, yeah." Her words hung in the air.
Luka hadn't figured out what happened to break up the state of Adrienette, but when he came back from touring with Jagged, Marinette and Adrien were "just friends" again. Luka wasn't sure how long ago the split happened and after 2 or 3 years apart did he even know Marinette anymore?
She had welcomed him back to Paris as a more grown up Marinette, not actually so different than he had remembered her. She had more confidence, less anxiety, a spine of steel. She was in charge of herself and it was so good to see her so sure.
He didn't want to mess that up for her in any way. So they remained friends for 2 more years. And for one reason or another they both kept being single.
He had somehow reintegrated back in her inner circle of friends. Luka saw for himself that Marinette and Adrien had a lot of history in their little in-jokes and double talk, dropping code phrases and making each other laugh at random. Maybe they'd reignite that spark and Luka didn't want to be caught in the resulting blaze. Even if they didn't, underneath it all he worried about being disappointed and left in the dark by Marinette like he'd been all those years ago.
Not that it did anything to change his attraction to her. He was a sucker for girls like her, except there had only ever been the one.
Marinette took his free hand and squeezed it gently. "I was happy, yes. And… I was hoping I could be again. With you?"
Slowly, Marinette thought, take it slow. She did spring this on him a little suddenly but hey, it felt right, and she had it on relatively good authority that it was time. At this point in her life she knew to trust her gut instinct and friendly advice. Although she felt more okay with this because her head was sliiightly impaired right now.
She also thought that he'd jump on… her, she supposed, given the opportunity - but he was uncharacteristically reserved. Was it uncharacteristic? Maybe not. He'd always been pretty laid back and easy going.
And observant.
Which meant he was thinking and had doubts about them. Well, shit. Okay. She didn't make it easy on them the last time they tried anything like this. Actually, Hawkmoth had made life difficult for her so there hadn't even been an opportunity for a them.
He sighed softly and squeezed her hand back. "I want… this. I do. But there's still something that worries me."
Alright, fuck going slow. "I'm Ladybug. I am now and I was then. That's why I kept disappearing." This was alright, it was kind of an open secret by this point in her superhero career. Her parents knew, her closest friends knew, and Luka was a close friend she wanted even closer, so he should know.
His mouth was slightly open and his eyebrows shot up. "Ah."
"Things are… okay now, aren't they? I'm not needed like I was before."
He smiled a little and his worried expression softened, understanding. "That… does explain a lot of things but that's not the only thing I was worried about."
That surprised Marinette. And actually now she started to worry herself. What other red flags had she given him? Shit. She'd been a basket case in her earlier teens but she'd left behind the Teenage Angst Things and graduated to Adult Things, hadn't she? Fuck.
He chuckled. "It's not --all-- a you thing, this is a me thing," he said.
"Oh please don't give me the 'It's not you it's me' talk when we haven't started anything," Marinette interrupted.
He snorted, putting down his empty tea mug on the table. "Yeah, I still want to give you some context," he continued. "First off, I'm not like Dad, I don't want to be a big rock star with all that baggage. I just wanna play music and do small gigs and have fun. I'm not gonna be rolling in money and I can't give you everything that you'd possibly want."
Marinette blinked. "I… already knew that?"
"Second, if you do want to 'start' things I promise you I'm not just going to let you go again."
Marinette bit back a smile. "Alright. Are we entering some kind of agreement here? Is this a pre-nup?" She stuck her tongue out at him.
"We're already getting married?" He laughed.
"Not if you don't want to kiss me!" He leaned in and brushed his lips against hers.
Soft, warm, simple. Real.
She placed her hands on his face and brought him in for another kiss, stopping him from pulling back all the way. "More," she breathed out.
"More?" Luka thought. It was… an odd ask but okay… He was sort of interested in more as well so why not? Except well, there were a few things clarified but he really meant to talk about things in detail before diving into… her mouth like he just did. Her fingers worked their way through his hair, her nails skimming across his scalp sending shivers down his spine. She gave back as much as she was receiving from him in their make-out and if he had to taste only one thing for the remainder of his life he'd want it to be her: sweet, warming, with notes of chamomile, bourbon, vodka, and rum.
This was getting a little too indulgent but most of him didn't mind. One part of him craved this from her, but… wait, shit. Bourbon? Vodka? Rum? She'd been drinking, dumbass. Shit. "Mm--" He tried to say her name to get her attention, maybe slow them down a bit -- okay, a lot -- but she had just leaned back on the couch and he was pulled down with her still relentlessly kissing him. "Mar--" he tried again, but she took that opportunity to take his bottom lip gently between her teeth. One of her hands went to his hips and she grabbed a belt loop and hooked a finger under his jeans, tugging him closer.
Oh boy.
He broke free from her a little reluctantly. "Hold on," he chuckled nervously after pulling back. "Wait a sec."
Her eyes went wide open and she froze. She pulled back her hands and stuttered out a "W-was that bad? S-Sorry! Oh I'm so--"
He pressed two fingers to her lips to stop the torrent of apologies. Apparently the penchant of apologizing for everything wouldn't change about Marinette even if she'd been drinking. "Marinette, you had a few drinks. I don't… I don't think…" He sighed, sitting back up.
"I only had 3?" Marinette squeaked.
"4. You finished off Brielle's."
"I-I think I'm pretty sober?"
"But you're not sure."
"I'm… sober enough, aren't I?"
"I'm not confident making that call."
"But I… I want this," Marinette said quietly but firmly. "I really want this."
The thought that kept mentally slapping Luka across the face was But will you still want this in the morning? Well. He had to be honest with himself. It was really Will you still want me in the morning?
Her knowing the general trajectory of his life and joking about marriage aside, she hadn't said anything about wanting him. Wanting a "this" and wanting to be happy again, sure. Having him along for the ride, sure. But actually wanting him and all he was? Still unclear.
And even if she said she wanted him, would he believe her? She'd been 14, yes, but she said she wanted to date and… never actually followed through, Ladybug duties aside. He sighed to himself. She hadn't been ready. That wasn't her fault. She couldn't tell him then.
But that time of being left behind didn't magically evaporate with an explanation.
He didn't think he was bitter or resentful but all of that was hitting him full-force now. Not again, his head warned him. Not again. You don't have to deal with that. And yeah, he didn't have to deal with that... Sometimes a heartbreak was worth braving.
He needed some time to think about if this was worth braving.
He felt Marinette shuffling at his side but he didn't give in to the temptation to look. He stared down at his hands, his elbows propped on his knees as he slumped forward.
"Can… Can I hear what you're thinking?" Marinette asked softly. There was a little bit of uncertainty in her voice. He didn't say anything for several heartbeats. "Luka?"
Well, at least she didn't call him Adrien. That was a plus. God that'd been once and it still left an awful taste in his mouth. "You should probably head to bed. We can talk later." Later. There was always later. Except he was tired of later. It'd been better when he didn't have to tell himself he could wait. It'd been better when he hadn't had anything to wait for.
Easier. Not better. He had to give her that.
"No," she said. "I'd like to talk now if that's alright. I'd like to… understand." Right, she was better at standing her ground. She wasn't 14 anymore. He wasn't 16 and naïvely hopeful anymore.
He probably wasn't going to sleep anyway. "I don't know how to trust you."
Shit. Shit shit shit.
Marinette felt the all too familiar cold panic settling on her shoulders like it always did. Of course he didn't trust her, she wouldn't trust herself fully now with how things played out back then. She was definitely getting a headache.
Fucking Cockmoth. Fucking Guardianship. Fucking… Adr--no, she made her peace with Adrien. They were past that now. Fucking… obligations and wrangling all those threads in her life to hold together. Marinette figured she was done with all that, but…
At the epicenter of all of these problems was her. She had to admit, it wasn't her fault but it became her responsibility to treat those around her as fairly as she could. And she hadn't been fair with Luka.
God, she spent hours staring at pictures of Adrien and drooling over every damn appearance. When she tried to get past the crush the whole universe was conspiring to push her to indulge it instead. And worst yet, she did indulge it while trying to date Luka! This was… she should have seen it coming. Who in their right mind wouldn't be at least a little bit wary of her intense obsession over Adrien in her formative years influencing her now? It defined who she was for a long time.
But she was different now, she grew up. She just needed to show it, right?
Wait. There was something about the way he said what he said. "You don't know how to trust me?" He nodded. "Do… do you at all?"
"Mostly." Okay, so there was still a tiny sliver of a chance? "I trust you with almost everything."
"Except?"
"Except me." He paused for a moment. "And you've been drinking."
But! But I… Yeah. "Okay." Her being slightly impaired did make things a little complicated. And maybe that was the reason why she was being a bit impulsive right now, the alcohol was fast-forwarding her decision making process. Marinette let out a breath she held in. "Will you stay here tonight?"
He raised an eyebrow but relented with a "Yeah."
"Come upstairs with me?"
He raised the other eyebrow as well, looking nervous. "Upstairs? To your room?"
"Yes, I wanted to--" It took a second but it clicked. What she asked didn't sound any less impulsive with how he probably interpreted that. "Oh I'm not going to seduce you or anything I just was thinking it'd be nicer for you if you were using my daybed instead of the couch here but I guess it could sound a little like I'm asking for sex which I'm not. I mean unless you consider making-out se--okay nevermind!" Wow, way to go, Marinette. Her face was burning with embarrassment. "I'll bring down a blanket!"
Okay, she had to admit it, she was definitely more than a little tipsy. She felt lightheaded when she stood up quickly. She tried to hide her disorientation as best she could as she walked away, heading toward the ladder leading up to the hatch. She'd been so focused on seeming not-drunk that she bonked her head at the top climbing up. "Ouch!"
"Are you alright?" Luka asked, and even tipsy Marinette could hear the puzzled amusement in his voice.
"I'm fine," Marinette muttered. She forced open the entry and it slammed open on the other side with a loud thunk. Fuck, she wasn't at all convincing him that she was sober. She slipped off her shoes and sat back down on her chaise/daybed, feeling incredibly embarrassed at herself. This was not at all going the way she hoped. He still felt betrayed at the things that happened when she was an idiot teenager. Should she have known? He never told her!
But he never told her because he never thought they'd get back together. That was obvious in the way he said all the things he said.
He did want to be with her. He did want her. But he'd been so hurt by what happened and… she never knew. No, of course she knew, he was akumatized by it. He'd carried that for so long and let her live her life without her knowing. Damn it, she needed to… she needed to make this right.
How could she make this right?
She was unsurprised as she felt the cool streaks of tears falling down her cheeks. In the morning, they'll talk. Ignoring the fact that it was already morning, she knew they both just needed to put this aside and get some rest for now. She heard shuffling and Luka making his way up the ladder. She quickly wiped her eyes.
"Hey, you doing okay?" He had a clear look of concern on his face, kneeling down in front of her. "Is your head hurting?"
"Oh no, sorry, I just spaced out."
"You hit your head that hard?" Luka asked, sounding even more concerned.
"No, no. I-I was… My head's fine, Luka." She sighed. "Just. Thinking, is all. Sorry, let me get the blanket."
He looked up at her a bit more keenly. "You've been crying." A simple statement.
"Yeah," Marinette said quietly, defeatedly. "But I'm okay." She pasted on a smile that didn't reach her eyes. She started getting up but he caught her attention and spoke with some hesitation.
"I don't need the blanket. I'm probably not going to sleep," he said with a half smile, sitting down on the floor in front of her. "Too much going on here," he tapped against his temple. "I'm guessing the same for you?"
"Yeah again," she said, smiling for real this time. "Can we keep talking?"
"We can. I thought it'd be better if you got some rest but sleep isn't coming for either of us anyway." The lights in her room were muted but she could see the bags forming under his eyes. He passed his hands over his chin, lightly scratching at the stubble coming in.
"I was really kind of… no, not kind of. I was awful when we dated before."
"You weren't awful. You just weren't there. I understand that you had Paris to save," he added quickly when she had furrowed her eyebrows. "But the fact remains that I wasn't able to spend any time with you. Juleka kept telling me to watch out and that you dated me only because Adrien wasn't available to date anymore. I was hoping you'd change your mind and you would want to be with me, but then you were making time for him and your other friends while I was left waiting. I'm a human being, Marinette, not a doormat. You forgot about me. It was miserable and I felt like shit. I almost regretted asking you out at all."
Ah, fuck.
Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck. There were none of his usual filters. He just spewed all that out there. It was all true but maybe he should've let it go? She was young and dumb, anyone at that age was capable of making stupid-ass mistakes. Luka himself made soooo many of them. It'd been like 5 years since their breakup, maybe he should just get over it already. Marinette was in his arms literal minutes ago and he had to go and get like this. And he made her cry again. Nice one, Couffaine.
This was the worst sort of crying. She went absolutely still with a solemn expression, being oppressively silent while the tears fell from her eyes. He felt his mouth go dry and he swallowed. "I--" he cut himself off.
Marinette nodded her head so slightly Luka almost didn't see the motion. "I didn't make time for you," she agreed, her voice tiny and broken.
He suddenly wanted to make a quip about knowing all about time and giving Second Chances to let them both recover but that would be disingenuous and corny as hell. He wasn't so sure he believed in them much anymore. And maybe the way this played out was better anyway, at the very least he needed to own what he said as he couldn't take back his words.
Marinette broke the silence. "I… I wasn't very happy with myself back then. I did make a lot of bad decisions. I didn't give you… much of anything I guess."
He smiled a little. "I still have that pendant."
"I could have given you more. I could have been doing so much more. And I didn't. I didn't," she repeated, a hitch in her voice.
Fuck. He could meet her halfway at least. "It sounded like you had a lot to deal with. You knew your friends better so it makes a lot of sense that you'd prefer to hang out with them. I was just some guy. The brother of a friend. I wasn't that important in the long run."
"Don't say that," Marinette cringed a little. She wrapped her arms around herself. "You were--are important. I was… I was scared. Of a lot of things. A lot of stupid things." She shivered slightly. "I was a little scared of disappointing you. I was scared that maybe I had used you to… make me feel better about myself. I was scared that you'd never see all of me. I was scared that Hawkmoth would use you against me and your family and Paris if you knew I was Ladybug and it happened anyway without you knowing about me. I was so stupid back then."
He sighed. "Hey, please don't beat yourself up. I didn't want to make you feel like you have to explain what happened in the past. I got too… wrapped up in how I felt back then. We didn't work out and that's just life." It hadn't been their time.
Did he still love her? Sure. But they'd been better off as friends. She even made a point of trying to hang out with him nowadays. She told him everything that was on her mind. She gave him small gifts here and there, made it to all of his gigs, invited him to all of her fashion showings. They saw the movies and concerts they wanted to see together. When she felt lost or sad he was the first one she reached out to.
As… friends?
There was this uncomfortable feeling tugging at the back of his mind. He felt it at the base of his skull, a slow dawning realization. But… he almost didn't want to acknowledge it as it could have been just some phantom hope that she would love him like he sometimes dreamed. It was way too easy to get lost in some fantasy.
Maybe he was just scared himself. Scared of being ghosted again if he picked up this hope and tried to make it real. In a roundabout way he was saying that, at least.
Okay. Time to bite the bullet. He leaned forward and put his hand on her elbow. "I know we're hanging out a lot more now. I'm sincerely enjoying all the times we get to do stuff together. I'm grateful that you're giving me all that." This is it. Just say it out loud. "I'm saying that if we want to be more than friends, I'm scared that you're going to leave me again."
Whew. Was that so bad? Actually yeah it was terrifying.
There was a grimace on Marinette's face. "I… I-I understand," she said weakly. "I understand why you'd be afraid of that. But I don't know how to prove to you that I won't?"
It felt like the world shifted, the same as the first time he ever saw her. That earlier hope was coiling around his heart, making it beat faster. "You won't?"
She kept looking pained. "J-Just so you know I t-totally get it if you wanna stay friends or… or something, but I-I want… I know I messed up and I get pretty crazy sometimes so maybe you don't want anything to do with me after this and it's completely your right to do that--"
"Hold on," Luka interrupted her, half anxious and half this is so Marinette. "I'm not--" She put her fingers to his lips to quiet him.
"B-But I have to ask if you could give me a second chance?"
Marinette pulled her head back a bit and got annoyed at herself. "Sorry, that wasn't supposed to be a pun. O-On your… history as Viperion."
Great, so not only had she made an ass of herself but she just unintentionally punned at Luka. Marinette intensely disliked when Chat had made those inappropriately annoying puns whenever moments were tense. She seemingly picked up the habit, ugh.
Luka laughed and the tension was cut a bit. Maybe Adrien wasn't so wrong to have joked all the time. Luka took her hand into his and pressed his face against her palm. "Alright, alright," he breathed out. Instantly Marinette's heart started beating faster. "I just wanted you to hear me out. You do hear me, right?"
Marinette nodded. "I hear you." There was a slightly rough and tickling sensation under her finger tips as she was able to feel some of his 5-o'clock-shadow (except what was it now, 4am?). Funny, she didn't notice that so much when she'd been kissing him.
"Then you should know that even though I've been scared, I could never stop hoping you'd warm back up to me." He gently folded her hand in his and smiled up at her. "Do you want to go out to dinner with me? We don't have to get married along the way."
"W-Well, yes to dinner, or maybe breakfast? But I mean," Marinette said, attempting for casual but probably still coming across nervous. "Don't throw that whole marriage idea out yet. I'm still not sure how to… prove things?"
He smiled. "Spend some quality time with me. That's all. It doesn't have to be big."
"Okay, breakfast and dinner. And lunch, too." She wanted to spend all the time she could with him. He wasn't asking for much -- to be honest he never asked for much, and this was something she wanted to give.
Luka smiled, probably thinking she was joking. "Think you can get some rest now?" He asked. "I can head back downstairs--"
"No! No, no, I mean, stay here with me. I-If you want."
"You're not trying to seduce me, are you?" He grinned.
"Well, I can," Marinette grinned back. "Can I?"
He seemed a little surprised by that. "Uh," he blushed.
How cute, he got flustered. Capitalizing on that, Marinette leaned forward to wrap her arms around his shoulders, her forehead against his. "I'd really like to," she whispered.
"How... inebriated are you?"
She sighed. "Do you really think I'd be having a coherent conversation with you if I was drunk?"
"You tell me, Ladybug."
"Luka Couffaine, you are a gentleman but I'm merely... warm and not even buzzed anymore. I would definitely still like to seduce you."
He blinked a few times. "Oh." He paused again, thinking it through. He gave a little laugh. "I'd really like that too."

Ear infection
Fandom: Stray Kids
Sickie: Seungmin
Caregivers: Stray Kids (mainly Changbin)
Prompt @sicktember
No one's POV.:
Seungmin had been battling a very persistent cold for the past three weeks already. He had been so stuffed up that he could barely hear over the congestion. Breathing through his nose had been impossible and he had been excluded from vocal practice to protect what little he had left of his voice. It got so bad that he had to spend two entire weeks at home resting, too run down to dance and too hoarse to sing. He had felt so miserable that he didn't even put up a fight when Chan asked him to take some time off to recover. Usually, Seungmin would put up a fight and insist that he was alright but this time, he didn't have the energy to do so. Now, after what seemed like forever to the vocalist, he could finally breathe through his nose again and his throat had stopped hurting. The low-grade fever had disappeared over night and he felt loads better than he had in a while. He was still somewhat congested, his hearing muffled. His right ear was only a little muffled, while he barely heard anything with his left ear. Seungmin was convinced though that he only needed a few more days for the congestion to clear up fully and then he'd be fine. He'd been sick more than long enough after all.
Chan was surprised to see his dongsaeng up early. The younger had been pretty fatigued from his cold for a while, so him being one of the first ones up hadn't happened in a while. He also looked a lot healthier and the leader was happy his friend was getting better. "Good morning, didn't expect to see you before heading out", the Aussie smiled, leaning against the kitchen counter sipping his coffee. Seungmin made himself a cup of tea and hummed: "Good morning, hyung. Yeah, I feel a lot better actually. I'd really like to go to work with the rest of you again." – "You sure you're well enough for that yet?", Chan frowned, eyes furrowed with worry, "You still sound a little stuffy." – "Yet? It's been over two weeks", the vocalist sighed, "I'm still pretty congested but other than that, I feel fine." The leader shrugged, Seungmin could still change his mind and go home early if he wasn't up for it after all. "If you say so, you can try", he smiled, leaving the younger alone so he could get ready. Minho walked up to Seungmin next, greeting him. The vocalist didn't react at all, so Minho repeated himself a bit louder. "Yah, Kim Seungmin, stop ignoring your hyung", he said loudly. Seungmin's head snapped up, staring at the dancer in shock. Turning his head, he stammered: "I-I'm sorry, hyung. I wasn't ignoring you." – "What's up then? I kept talking to you but you didn't react. Were you spaced out or something?", the older cooed worriedly. The vocalist shook his head, explaining: "You stood on my left side and my left ear is still really muffled. I didn't hear you, hyung. I'm sorry." Minho nodded in acknowledgement but didn't seem too satisfied. "That cold's really not letting go of you, is it?", he frowned. Seungmin shrugged lightheartedly, smiling: "I feel better for the most part, I'm sure the congestion muffling my ears will clear up soon."
Unlike Chan, Minho had doubts about letting his dongsaeng go to work today. Seungmin still wasn't 100% better and with how persistent his cold had been, the dancer feared the younger would get worse again if he started pushing himself while not fully recovered. His doubts amplified when the vocalist passed him and Felix in the hallway on the way to his room to get changed. Seemingly out of nowhere, Seungmin started to stumble, his shoulder brushing the wall and he might even have fallen if Felix didn't catch him. The Aussie helped him sit down and studied his face worriedly. "Are you okay? Going to pass out?", he frowned. Seungmin shook his head, laughing sheepishly: "I-I'm fine. Not even dizzy, no idea why my equilibrium went out the window." – "You wanna try to stand?", Minho asked, reaching out a hand to help his dongsaeng up. As soon as the vocalist stood on his own feet again, he stumbled, so Minho and Felix supported him from both sides and walked him back to his room, telling him to lay down while Felix would get Chan. While the Aussie was gone, Minho felt Seungmin's forehead for a fever but his temperature felt normal. "I'm serious, hyung, I felt completely fine and then I just fell sideways", the younger insisted but stayed on his back anyway. He turned his head to the side and smiled at Chan when the leader walked in. Felix had already told him what had happened but he wanted to hear it from Seungmin himself too, so he asked: "Can you tell me what's going on, Minnie? You seemed better when we talked earlier." – "Hyung, I don't know. I feel better and out of nowhere I just fell to the side", the vocalist sighed. That sounded odd to Chan but his dongsaeng seemed sincere. That didn't mean he'd trust the younger to go to work though or to stay home alone for that matter.
"Well, it's obvious that you can't come with us if you can't even walk in a straight line by yourself", Chan pointed out, making Seungmin's face fall, "Honestly, Min. You're worrying me. Are you sure this is really just a cold with how long you've been sick? Maybe we could drop you of at the doctor on our way to work." – "No, hyung, please. I'm fine", the younger pouted. "At this point I don't even want to leave you home alone, so don't even start about going to work", the leader warned, "I know you're frustrated by now but don't make yourself worse by pushing yourself too early." – "How about we make a deal?", Minho offered, "If you manage to walk to the kitchen and back here without losing your balance, you can stay at the dorm alone and we won't bother you about seeing a doctor. Maybe you're fine to work tomorrow after one more day of rest.... If you lose your balance though, someone's staying with you." Chan nodded, the dancer had a point and hopefully Seungmin would agree too. Though the vocalist really wanted to go, watching dramas in peace still sounded better than having an overprotective hyung keeping him company, so he got up and nodded, starting his walk to the kitchen.
He wasn't even halfway down the hallway, when he had to admit defeat. Feeling the ground under his feet tip to the side, Seungmin relied on doorways and walls to steady him and had to support himself on anything he could find. Walking without holding on to anything somehow just wouldn't work. He sighed and turned around without even making it to the kitchen, stumbling back to his room. A single tear ran down his cheek when he plopped down on his bed again. Why couldn't he just be fine already? Minho sat down next to him and rubbed his back. The dancer could understand why his dongsaneg was upset but there was no use in taking him to work in this condition. Chan had left them for a moment to organize a few things but Changbin soon joined the two and smiled sadly, humming: "Hey, Chan told me what's going on and said they didn't need me as urgently at the company, so I should stay with you for today." Seungmin nodded, not really happy about it still but he didn't think the rapper would be all over him like some of the other members might. "It's okay, I won't bother you if you want to rest or watch dramas alone. I'm just here in case you need something or want company, I know we barely spent time with you recently because we were always busy", he smiled, knowing the vocalist was usually quite good at taking care of himself.
Soon the rest of the group had left and Seungmin started feeling tired again despite not having been awake for too long. Maybe it was good he had stayed home after all. Yawning, he let Changbin know that he was going to take a nap before drawing the blinds in his room and going back to bed. It didn't take long for the vocalist to fall asleep. He didn't sleep for long though, waking up to an intense pain in his left ear. Gasping, he sat up and covered his ear with his hand. He didn't know what to do, so he struggled to his feet to go and find Changbin. Seungmin still struggled to keep his balance and slid down with his back against the wall, clutching his ear as the tears started falling. "Hyung", he shakily cried out, biting his sleeve to keep from whimpering. Why did it hurt so bad all of a sudden? The vocalist was so deep in his thoughts that he didn't hear the hurried footsteps approaching. Changbin crouched in front of him, taking in the tear stained face and pained noises escaping his dongsaeng's lips from time to time. Holding the boy by his shoulders, the rapper frowned: "Hey, you're okay. Can you tell hyung what's going on?" – "It-It hurts s-so bad", Seungmin sobbed, hand still pressed against his ear. "Your ear?", Changbin confirmed and the younger nodded, "Alright, you didn't eat yet, so I can't give you anything against the pain, right?" Seungmin nodded again. "Alright, here's what we're gonna do. I'll take you back to your room, we'll get you into some day clothes and then I'll take you to a doctor. You probably got an ear infection or something", the rapper explained, hoisting his dongsaeng up and walking him back to his room.
Seungmin kept crying while his hyung went through his closet, handing him clothes that the vocalist changed into without even really looking at them, not caring what he wore, just wanting the pain to go away. Changbin already called them a driver before wrapping his arm around the younger's waist, guiding him to the front door to put on his shoes. Seungmin held on to the rapper's shoulders, leaning against his side heavily. Why was he so unsteady on his feet? The car ride passed in a blur with the vocalist crying pain and Changbin desperately trying to comfort the younger but knowing he couldn't take the pain away. It turned out that Seungmin really had developed an ear infection as a result of his cold. That was also what was messing with his balance. He didn't even care anymore about having to miss a few more days of work, as long as it would just stop hurting so badly. With a prescription for ear drops and painkillers, the two went on their way home and Changbin allowed the crying vocalist to wait in the car while he'd pick up his medication. The rapper could tell his dongsaeng was getting exhausted after crying for so long. Hopefully he'd be able to nap when they got home, so he wouldn't have to feel the pain for a while.
When they got home, they washed their hands before Changbin sat the younger down at the dining table, asking: "What do you feel like eating? You can take the first dose of your painkillers as soon as there's some food in you." – "I-I don't know. Anything fast. I just want it to stop already. Maybe something soft too, my jaw's starting to hurt", Seungmin whimpered, resting his head on his arms. "Blueberry yoghurt okay?", the rapper mused, rummaging through the fridge. Glancing over his shoulder, he caught the younger nodding and brought him his yoghurt, along with a spoon, before pouring him a glass of water so he could take the pill afterwards. Keeping the Seungmin company while he ate, Changbin announced: "When you're done, I'll help you put in your eardrops too, okay? Maybe you can take a nap too, you look exhausted." – "I am but I don't think I could sleep, it hurts too bad", the younger pouted, rubbing at his eyes to stop the tears from falling. He forced his yoghurt down in record time before taking the medicine his hyung had prepared. After throwing out the cup and dropping the spoon in the sink, Changbin offered the vocalist his hand to help him get back to his room, where the younger changed back into his comfortable sleep clothes. "Alright, lay on your right side", the rapper instructed when Seungmin was ready. The other complied, getting comfortable on his right side. Changbin put in the eardrops, making the younger frown. Placing the bottle on the nightstand, he asked: "Should I stay or leave you to take a nap?" – "Stay, please? Please distract me, this feels disgusting", Seungmin pouted, playing with a lose string on his blanket. Changbin sat down next to him and started to play with his hair, talking about the most random things, not even sure, whether the younger was listening to him at all. When he heard soft congested snores, he knew his dongsaeng wasn't listening anymore and carefully got up from the bed, pulling the blanket up to cover the younger before sitting on the other bed, playing games on his phone, so he'd still be nearby should he be needed.

Note: Dear reader, thanks for sticking with us... Now, finally, after those tense hours, Anna and Kristoff find some time to relax back in their newfound love...
----------
Taking a shower was the very right thing to do, and right now it was such a relief to sense that hideous makeup and filthy feeling of having been so close to that awful man being washed off and drained in the sewers.
I got ready to plop down on the couch in my hoodie and jogging pants, when Kristoff joined me and I could sense his worry, but I was feeling unwell, too.
I loved the man even the more for his concern and the way I was able to share my thoughts and feelings with him. Kristoff was the only person who seemed to understand me perfectly without doubting or questioning my character. He trusted me, and I learned that watching that abhorrent scene in that cheap hotel room had been horrifying to him and feeling the relief upon the torment´s end we both had cried.
And now, I found myself resting in his arms, snuggled up at his chest, and had he just asked me to stay with him tonight?
“Yes!”
And Kristoff gave me this look that made my heart melt away like ice cream in the sun.
Of course, I will! How could I deny his wish and then… oh no!
A ghastly memory popped up before my inner eyes.
“Kristoff, I…”
Oh, oh… how should I put those words….?
“What is it, Anna? Are you afraid or is this too early for us…?”
“No, no! It´s not that… Oh, I want to be with you! It´s just…”
I bit my lower lip and wondered if I should just shut up and hope the nasty picture to go away upon throwing myself into those wonderful arms.
“Anna! You know you can tell me. After all that had happened today… And you just said that you trusted me. I need to know what´s worrying you.”
“I´m not worried. Well, maybe I´m a bit, but it´s not your fault. It´s the fault of that you know, the one who´s name shall not be mentioned…”
“Wait, what? What have I missed? Has he touched you? Has he done anything to you that has gone beyond my attention?”
There it was again, that horrified look and rage raising in Kristoff´s eyes upon thinking of Hans maybe having touched me more than just shaking hands. It made me sigh with utter gratitude to be protected by my wonderful blonde hero! I reassuringly put a finger to his lips to sooth his outburst.
“No, Kristoff, none of that sort. Well, it´s only… hm… you said I was a good actress, right? But to be honest, I felt downright terrible. Like I said before, it felt like I was cheating on you. And then, I was so close to his… I knew that Sam and you were on guard and that within a second the bird would leave the cage, but still… that sight… yack!”
I buried my face in my hands, shaking my head feverishly like trying to shake the slimy picture off…. And then, I felt those strong hands, taking mine off my face, and I faced those loving eyes, which threatened to cry any moment.
“Anna, I´m so sorry! I haven´t realized that, and I curse myself for not thinking of that before…!”
“No! Don´t! It was worth the result, you know!”
“Say, is there anything I can do to make you forget about that?”
My heart melted upon that offer, and I nodded slowly, and I tried to give him the most sparkling glance of my whole being.
“That´s what I wanted to ask you…”
“What? Tell me, please!”
“You asked me to stay with you?”
“Hm, yes please.”
“And I ask you to make me forget about today. So, it had never happened. I wish we skipped from that party right back to our home, and out of sheer contentment we landed in your room. No guilt, no fear, because somebody could see us. This is our home, our private refugium, and we are free to do whatever we like, unless we don´t break any stupid rules and if we behave at work! Right?!”
Kristoff didn´t respond with words, only to lean in closer to me, kissing me with warm lips and running a hand through my hair. And then, he scooped me up with such an ease, and all I could do was close my eyes, fling my arms around his neck, when he carried me to his room.
There was no hectic, no pressure and certainly nothing dirty the whole time that we were curled up in his bed, just lavishing in the freedom we got to do so and holding each other. After a while, Kristoff sat up and pulled me with him, just to reach for the hem of my pullover and gently asking.
“May I?”
And upon my nodding, he pulled off my hoodie and smiling at me when I sat there before him in my grey bra.
My grey, cotton bra!
The most disastrous piece I possessed in my drawer of dessous, which I had completely forgotten about… Oh no! How embarrassing that was! If ever, I certainly didn´t want Kristoff to see me in THAT one! I looked at him in horror which made him crook his head, and I jolted up my hands to cover my grey cotton covered breasts.
“I´m so sorry. Can I change into something more… suitable?!”
He seemed to understand and smirked, licked his lips and bent down to kiss me.
“Hey feisty pants! Don´t you know you´re the most beautiful girl in the world, no matter what you wear?”
That was it then, and I simply started to tear at his t-shirt, clearly less patient than he was, which made him grin. And then I got frustrated because I had difficulties pulling up the fabric all over this muscular body, yanking the shirt up with more force just to make us triple backwards onto the mattress with Kristoff landing on me like in the storeroom back at the party.
There it was again, this amazing feeling of him lying on me and I could have stayed like that the whole night, not caring of suffocating along the hours of more than twice my weight pressing my lungs. I loved him being so close and flung my arms around his neck, because here I was, allowed to do it. And I surely sensed his thrill in return when he traced his fingers along my jawline.
The shirt was still on his body… I cursed silently for my awkwardness and started fiddling with the material around his neck.
“That´s not fair.”
“What´s that?” He smiled and pecked a kiss to my nose.
“I´m practically bare and you´re still covered.”
“Due to your inpatient manner.” He grinned.
I wrinkled my nose.
“But I want to see you and knowing that you surely look like a great Viking warrior makes me edgy.”
“Wait, what?”
“Come, on, you´ve yanked up the one who´s name shall not be mentioned like he weighted practically nothing, and then you were the one who asked me to be with you and now, you´re playing with me?”
Playfully, I pulled at his shirt again with glinting eyes.
Kristoff turned more serious than I had wanted him to become, and he braced his weight on one arm just to pull off the fabric with one strong pull. And what I saw made me gasp.
My Viking!
Anna, stop that drooling and say something sensible!
“I´m at a loss… So, what now?”
“Let´s make sure we forget about today?”
“But only up to the moment you asked me to stay with you!”
Kristoff gave me a look that made my core explode with love for him.
“Anna?”
“Yes?”
“About tonight?”
“Yes?”
“Will you stay with me?”
“Yes!”

sooo... can we get some smut from the hanare incident 👀 if you want, i don’t want to bother you lol 🥴
oh my god yess I was hoping someone would ask 😌 and you'd never bother me so don't worry <3 sorry if this has typos
::
"so you kissed her?" you asked, eyebrow cocked and your arms on your hips. kakashi almost ran away once he heard the tone of your voice, he was scared shitless. there weren't many things that he feared anymore but you were a whole different topic.
"w-well it wasn't my intention. the kids fell off the tree and pushed me on top of her. plus I had my mask on."
the smile on your face was passive aggressive, and honestly he couldn't read how you felt anymore. but yours eyes never left his and quite frankly it was intimidating. he sighed, "listen I'll do anything you want to make it up to you, even if it's something embarrassing."
"anything? well then, strip and lay down on the bed."
he didn't have the chance to question anything since you left the room, leaving him confused and with no other option than to do as you said.
---
and now his wrists were handcuffed to the bed, his legs tied and separated from each other so he couldn't move. and he was leaking precum because of the way your hand moved up and down his sensitive cock.
he had a reason to be so sensitive, after all you had been doing this for almost an hour now. you made him cum once and then you didn't let him anymore, not giving him the release that he craved. he was sweating, head thrown back, chest heaving up and down, lidded eyes glossy from all the times he almost cried out of frustration.
it took a while to get him like this. when you started he was just talking back, denying all the degrading names you called him. but now he was a flustered and needy mess, the thought of talking back didn't even cross his mind. all he wanted was your praise and even degradation.
he was exhausted and he would probably fall asleep if you weren't touching him. every time you stopped so he wouldn't cum, his eyes would start closing but you'd start again, making him jolt up despite how close he was to dozing off.
it hurt, but it felt so good at the same time. he felt dizzy and he couldn't help but moan out your name. and that was kind of rare, you'd usually only hear him moan when he was close to cumming. grunts and groans were more common for him, but now he was letting all sorts of pretty noises that you didn't hear most of the time. needy whimpers, whines, and even sobbing noises sometimes.
"you look so pretty like this, do you want to cum that badly?" your question had him nodding, a whimper escaping from his mouth because of the previous praise. this hurt you too, watching him get so desperate made your cunt ache. you wanted some friction, so that's exactly what you got.
you let go of his cock, ignoring the frustrated whine that he let out. but he couldn't complain when he felt you sit on his right thigh, he could feel your arousal leaving a wet spot on his bare thigh. he was muscular which made it feel even better, it felt just right against your bundle of nerves. "oh fuck-"
he unintentionally added to the pleasurable sensation, he was trying to move and touch you which only resulted in his thighs frantically moving as well.
knowing that you were getting off to his thighs was too much, he wanted to help you. but this was also such an amazing sight, usually he would take charge and move your hips but now all he could do was watch.
you were so needy, a knot already forming in your stomach. and there was no way in hell you were going to stop, it only encouraged you more. you rolled your hips quicker, not giving your clit a rest. kakashi could only moan, his eyes never leaving your beautiful figure.
and honestly you couldn't last long, eventually you came all over his thigh, which was now soaked in your arousal. not that he cared though, in fact he found it so hot. the way he called your name got your attention, and he was bucking his hips up, his cock feeling neglected.
he had been good for you so why not? you wanted to suck him off and tease him one last time before you finally fucked him. you readjusted yourself so you were between his legs once again.
he tried to thrust his hips up when you wrapped your lips around his cock, slowly taking him deeper into your mouth. he couldn't though, you were holding his hips down. he was throwing his head from side to side, eyes shut at the overwhelming sensation of your warm mouth.
you felt him twitch in your mouth, you moaned, the vibration fueling on to the build up of his orgasm. you could see his thighs start to shake from the corner of your eyes. he was so sensitive that only a minute of you sucking him off almost pushed him over the edge so you pulled away.
honestly his whimpers of frustration were amusing, and you knew you would probably do this to him again in the future. usually he was the one making you sob and beg for him, but now he was underneath you and letting all kinds of filthy expressions form on his face.
but he had been such a good boy, not resisting anymore and just letting out such pretty noises. you wanted to reward him and finally let him cum, he deserved it. "kakashi, you've been so good for me."
his eyes were slowly closing, mind hazy and on the verge of shutting down. but his eyes bolted open at the sensation of you sinking down on his cock. he practically cried out your name, unable to control what came out his mouth since he had gotten what he had longed for.
his face looked so erotic. cheeks flushed and eyes rolled back. mouth slightly opened which made him drool. after being close to cumming for such a long time, all he could do was mumble nonsense, his sentences making no sense. the sight alone made you speed up your pace.
knowing that only you had this effect on kakashi made you feel confident. he was so strong and yet so vulnerable under your touch. honestly he could've broken out of the handcuffs and ropes before but didn't choose to. but now he couldn't even if he wanted to, every roll of your hips made him shudder in pleasure and lose grip of reality, all that was on his mind was finally reaching his orgasm.
the bed was creaking, the headboard slamming against the wall. you didn't care though, your eyes set on kakashi's lewd face. and when he stuck his tongue out slightly, that's when you lost it.
you were so desperate, unable to stop even if you really wanted to. you were getting gradually louder, your moans becoming high pitched. you leaned down, burying your face into his neck and biting on it to prevent your moans.
the painful sensation made him cum without warning. and feeling his warm load inside of your walls threw you over the edge too. it was too much and so loud. you were chanting his name, meanwhile he just let out loud whimpers and moans.
he was crying at this point, it felt that good. he finally got the sweet release that he wanted for a long time. he was so overstimulated that it hurt but he didn't even care at this point. he looked at you with hazy eyes, somehow managing to smile weakly.
this was all a new experience for you too so you couldn't help but laugh a bit, wiping his tears away and resting your forehead against his. now he knew what you felt like when he didn't let you orgasm sometimes. "now I know what you feel like."
his voice came out in a whisper, he was tired. "yeah? you did such a good job. so go to sleep, I'll take care of everything." you got up to take off the handcuffs and untie the ropes before getting back onto the bed. you held kakashi in your arms, praising him and running your fingers through his hair until he drifted off the sleep.

English class
Word count: 876
Pairing: Semi x reader
Warnings: swearing
Daily prompt: We never talk but we make eye contact every time someone says something incredibly stupid during class
A/N: I´ve had this idea for a while now and the daily prompt was so fitting that I finally was able to write this!! Shout out to the baby thots for being amazing <3
Taglist: @babythotshq @hidden-otaku-stuff for creating this great prompt!!
College has always been scary to you.
Even back in high school when it first came to deciding which one you were going to attempt.
It was rough, especially in a society that was based on performance and results.
You couldn´t help but comparing yourself to others even though it was the thing you swore to yourself you´d never do.
But when everyone else was doing it, when everyone else was so sure of themselves and looked down on everyone who didn´t have their intellect and skills, it was too easy to get caught in your own head.
For the longest time you thought you were incredibly stupid.
That was until you were actually in college.
In English class to be exact.
Never have you ever thought that people like this would be allowed into college, but to be fair you also thought that anyone could make it if even you got in.
The only thing that was keeping you sane was the guy who you so lovingly called Scowly.
You were also thinking about calling him Mr. Frowny Face in your head, but Scowly was just shorter.
His name was Semi Eita if you remembered correctly, but his expressions during class were gold, a sigh here, an eye roll there.
One time you swore you could hear him groan in agony as a classmate was trying so hard to analyze a poem, only to end up with the conclusion: it´s about love.
“Everything is about love, you fuckhead”… you heard Semi grumble underneath his breath and thus a beautiful… well… whatever this was, was born.
You couldn´t contain your chuckle and got his attention, not a scowl, not a frown, not even an eye roll, instead you got a curious raise of his eyebrow.
Another day, another poem.
This time your classmate came to the conclusion that love endured even death. How shocking. What an unexpected and original outcome when it came to baroque poetry.
Semi´s eyes rolled so far in the back of his head, you were afraid they would never see the light of day again.
“Just put me out of my fucking misery already…” he whispered and pleadingly looked at the clock, it was way too early for this much stupidity.
You scoffed at his statement, earning a pout from him.
There was something about Semi Eita.
A mutual understanding of sorts, a telepathic connection maybe… whatever it was, it kept you calm and collected in class.
It kept you on your toes, it kept you interested and sane to a certain extent.
Classes just wouldn´t be this much fun without him.
And yet you never spoke a word to each other, you didn´t seek each other out after class, didn´t greet each other in the hallways or the library.
But that wasn´t rude. It was simply how it was.
Maybe the whole magic about it was that you never exchanged any words and maybe the magic would be gone once you broke your silence.
Semi had you looking forward to attending class and in a weird way he even helped you improve, he pushed you to not make the same mistakes the others did in such a natural, healthy way that you didn´t know how to ever thank him for it.
Even after class you thought about him, wondered what his interests were, his ambitions.
But what you didn´t expect was seeing him playing his guitar and singing when you were out in the city running some errands.
Naturally you stopped to watch him, in absolute awe of his talent, especially his lyrical one.
Who would´ve thought that Scowly could sing like this?
That explained why he always got so agitated in class whenever people made mistakes, because he was so passionate about it all, because he cared so much, because it meant so much to him.
You didn´t know why, but your feet were glued on the ground, your instinct told you to run, it was always embarrassing seeing a classmate outside, you never knew how to react, if you should say hi or not.
But it was somehow worse when it was someone you never actually talked to but shared so much with at the same time.
Semi mesmerized you, everything about him did.
The way he played guitar, the way he was able to convey his emotions so beautifully despite his rather cold demeanor, the way he always had this amusing look in his eyes he probably was trying very hard to suppress, but you caught it anyway.
Despite all your efforts you couldn´t move, after the crowd that gathered around Semi left, you were still there, not grasping the situation.
“I didn´t know you could sing” you stated without thinking and felt so stupid like the rest of your classmates.
Wow. That was really the first thing you said to him? Great.
“You never asked” he chuckled, putting his guitar away before looking at you with those bemused eyes again.
“Well, it´s not really the thing I had in mind as the first thing I´d ever say to you, but here we are” you stated, scratching your head slightly.
“So, your song´s about love, huh?” you grinned, making him laugh slightly and shake his head in amusement.

Shouto Todoroki x reader
A/n Very angst but I might make a happy ending one, I also tried to make this as realistic as I could.
Reader is still in class 1-A  but in the end of the story she would be in class 3-A you will see and you all living the the dorms but you don’t stay there.
~~~
Staring at the stick you sighed this wasn’t how it was supposed to be. What happened in the stories where fake. How could they lie to children and say you are going to like a happily ever after when your not.
‘He’s going to be happy right’ You thought trying to convince yourself but deep down inside you know that that is not going to happen. Tears started pouring out of your eyes.
Of course you were going to keep the child no child deserves to be taken away from the chance at life even worse how could a mother do this to there own child.
You just didn’t want to do it alone. You knew how it felt to be alone because your parents had put you in the orphanage at the age of two people didn’t want to be your friend ether so you had a hard life.
You had a strong quirk which was how you managed to get into UA and now all all that hard work was coming to an end as you were goin to drop out. Your dream was to become a hero
so you could help kids that didn’t have homes or family’s. To be said you didn’t really have friends at UA either everybody avoided or didn’t acknowledge your exitance.
Shoto was the only on who was your friend and now he wouldn’t be much longer. Walking to his room telling yourself that it would be best not to wait to tell him that he is going to be a father.
Knocking on the door is when the nerves got to you he would be mad and you knew it “it’s open y/n” He said You walked in “How did you know it was me?” You asked
“You are the only one that comes in here anyway what do you need” he said You were not going to beat around the bush the result would be the same anyway “Shouto I’m pregnant”
He looked at you and dropped his pencil “With who’s child because as far as I know you don’t have any other real friends y/n so tell me how could you be pregnant?” Ouch! you thought.
“You know how Shouto don’t make me say it this is your child” You said starting to get irritated. “How could you do this to me didn’t you think about what I wanted at all.”
He said whisper shouting as it was dark and everyone would be asleep. “Well you think I was ready you are the one who-” He cut you off “Now your going to start blaming things on me look your name if your not going to get rid of it-”
It was now your turn to cut him off “I will not get rid of my-” “Then get out you aren’t needed here it’s not like nobody will notice you are gone anyway.” He said in a cold tone while pointing at the door.
“Shouto we can work this out” You tried pleading, but he shook his head “No I don’t want to ever see you again now get out” And those words hit you like a tone of bricks
and with that you left straight to out out of the dorms to UA. Determined to talk to Nezu about drooping out tonight you never wanted to see any one from UA again. When you got there you wiped the tears from your face and nocked on the door.
Just to your lucky the principle was in the drinking he tea “L/n what brings you here I was just about to go home” Nezu said before jesting for you to sit. “Nezu I would like to drop out I have too.” You said
He almost spit out his tea “Why would you want to do that this was your dream what happened,” You weren’t going to tell him that you were expecting so you just shrugged.
“I would like to leave tonight”. Nezu nodded and finally handed over the papers “If this is what you really want L/n I won’t stop you just know that you will be missed” Yeah right you thought as you grabbed the pen and sighed.
Handing the papers back to Nezu you said “I know I won’t” and got out of your seat and left. You didn’t have anything in the dorm room besides extra money you had saved over the years.
plus the money your parents gave your orphanage caretaker before they valid never to see you again all of that was enough to get an apartment soon you left the dorm not even looking behind.
The next morning you had got an apartment far away from the school but just enough to support yourself and your unborn child. You also had found a job which they were paying high enough for you to start getting things for the baby.
~~~~
“Has anyone notice L/n hasn’t been coming to class”  Kaminari stated randomly out loud “Yeah I wonder what going on now to think about it she never really talked”  Kirishima went on
“She was always with Todoroki but us girls haven’t seen her leave her room.”  Ashido said. After she made that comment everyone looked at Todoroki who ignored them.
“Mabey she is sick” Kirishima said everyone had their own theory’s but Todoroki was the only one who knew the truth. “That’s enough open your books and start doing your work.” Aizawa said before stopping them to make an announcement.
“As you all know L/n hasn’t been in school. She will no longer be joining us no questions now get to work.”
Everyone was shocked but got to work anyway.
~~~~ 2 years later~~~~
You were doing great you had recently bought a 3 bed room house because you had twins and as they got older they would not have to share a room but as they were only two they could share for right now.
You right now you would be in class 3-A but you were happy you dropped out and as the twins got older you would go back and finish school. Aoi was the youngest and Sara was the oldest
for two year old's they both could speak pretty well for their age. Both of them looked a lot like you too only their eyes were different Sara had gray eyes and Aoi had blue but other than that they looked like you.
Today you guys were going to the little candy and bubble tea store in the mall today. You got the twins dress and held their hand walking to the mall which was not far.
after you got a tea and the twins some ice cream you sat down at a little table outside “Mama some?” Aoi asked holding a spoon of Ice cream to you. “No thank you baby you-” You were cute off by someone calling your name.
You knew that voice from anywhere. “Todoroki it’s been a while” you said watching the majority of class 1-A forming a small circle behind him “Yeah it has L/n you didn’t forget me” He replied
“Yeah how could you forget a person that got me pregnant and wanted me to get rid of my children and failed me as a friend. That’s something you don’t forget now if you will excuses me we must get going.”
You said before grabbing the twins hands and walking off with out looking back. Kirishima looked at Todoroki clueless before saying “You knew she left?”  Todoroki nodded before all of class 1-A said “WHY DIDN”T YOU TELL USSHE HAD CHILDREN.”
Shoto sighed and said looking to were you had left “Because I made the choice never to get to know them and now that I want to it’s too late” “I am sure she will still let you see them”  Kaminari reassured
“No she won’t after all I said to her” Todoroki sighed he knew that there was no way he could make it up to you and deep down inside he was just like his father.
8. Before a Match reverse | Miya Osamu
Disclaimer: All of the characters belongs to Haruichi Furudate, they’re not mine.
Warnings: description of vomit, fever.
Okay, this is the other part of the request of @happy-hufflepuff44-blog so I hope you like this 💘 I tried my best aaaand that’s it, hope you enjoy! Sorry if it’s a bit long ):
‘‘Aaagh, I forgot my kneepads!’’
Osamu sighed with annoyance at his brother’s yelling, finally putting on his own kneepads in the dressing room. He really didn´t wan’t to play that day, because he wasn’t feeling good and he hadn’t had any sleep last night for being stuck in the bathroom trying to puke his guts out without any results, just bile and saliva. His mother told him not to go that day after taking care of him, but there he was, in the dressing room where they were just a few minutes for the warm up to start.
‘‘Samu, do ya’ have another pair of kneepads?’‘ Atsumu asks, peering at him with an innocent smile.
‘‘No, I don’t.’‘ Osamu responds without even looking at him, this time grabbing his phone to see the message he had received.
‘‘Ahhhg, why am I so stupid?!’’ Atsumu yelled in frustration, grabbing his head with both hands.
Osamu grimaced.
‘‘Tsumu don’t yell. Why do you have to be so noisy? Damn.” Suna said, while he was applying deodorant in both armpits.
Osamu thanked him in silence.
“I’m in a crisis ya’know?! I have ta’ yell!”
‘‘I think Kita has another pair, maybe you should ask him.’‘ Aran enters the conversation, he looked ready to play.
‘‘Ugh, he’s gonna kill me.’‘
Osamu answered the text he got and told his mother that he was fine, clearly lying just to not make her worry. After that, he sighed slowly, putting down his phone on the bench and feeling a bit off as his stomach gurgled silently. Osamu placed a hand on it and rubbed the organ up and down. His teammates were helping his brother to find kneepads so they didn’t notice that.
That was until he stood up abruptly, capturing Suna’s attention a bit.
‘’Samu, you okay? Where are you going?’‘ Aran looked at him too, as Atsumu exits the dressing room abruptly to finally go and find Kita. He had no option.
Osamu removed his hand from his stomach.
‘‘Bathroom, I gotta pee.”
“You sure?”
“Yes.”
‘‘K’ay, don’t take too long.”
Osamu breathed shakily as he got out rapidly of the dressing room, entering almost immediately in the bathroom, which was next door. He felt cold and warm at the same time, the same way he felt last night, as a wave of dizziness crossed his head. His footstep were lazy when he walked in and doubled over in the nearest cubicle, gagging slightly in front of the toilet.
He placed a hand on his belly again and rubbed it, as he saw the tiny puddle of transparent saliva mixed with the water in front of him. He was feeling bad, too bad that he regretted not listening to his mother advice. Atsumu didn’t know about his condition, because he had always been a heavy sleeper so he couldn’t blame him for not being there with him. However, he wanted to go home.
Now.
Another uneasy gurgle sounded from his belly, and he gagged again. There was a lot of saliva, but nothing more than that. He was so nauseous.
“Samu, you in there?” Suna’s voice alarmed him and he coughed a bit, before getting out of the cubicle. “Dude, are you sure you’re okay?”
Osamu sighed and went to the sink, washing his hands immediately.
“Yes.” He said, when the wave of nausea went off a bit. “Why?”
“You seem off.” Suna wasn’t an idiot, but if Osamu didn’t wan’t to tell him what was wrong, he would respect that. “Like... tired.”
“I didn’t sleep well, that’s all.”
Osamu didn’t know why he lied to Suna, because he was feeling too bad and his stomach was almost killing him. Why didn’t he said something about it so he could go home? It wasn’t a strong opponent whose they were facing and it wasn’t an important match either. Maybe he couldn’t just drop a match because of Kita, he didn’t know.
“Let’s go then.” Suna patted on Samu’s back, making him lost his balance a bit. “Everybody’s on the court already.
The dark haired boy turned and got out of the bathroom, as Samu grabbed the sink to not fall down. Geez, when was the last time he felt like that?
“Samu, i’m waiting!”
The gray haired twin took a deep breath and exhaled before he went to walk out the bathroom again. After that, he walked to the court next to Suna. His vision clearly a bit blurred because of the light.
He really didn’t feel like playing.
When the warm ups started, Osamu almost failed all of the practice spikes and practice receiving. The coach looked a bit worried, because he knew that when Osamu failed it was because something was wrong or because he wasn’t totally concentrated in the game. Maybe if he fails in the first set, he would be getting out of the game.
That was the thoughts of the coach, at least.
“Samu, you suck.” Atsumu said, almost mad at him for not giving his best. “I’m not fucking doing passes to you if ya’ keep failing my sets.”
“At least I have kneepads, asshole.”
“Excuuuse me? Without kneepads I am better than you, so screw ya’.”
Samu breathed heavily, hearing the ring that meant the end of the warm ups and the start of the game. Atsumu just growled at him and turned to go to the net.
“Samu, can ya’ walk more faster?” The blond snapped at him, noticing how his brother was walking so slow behind him. “The game’s gonna start if ya don’t know.”
Osamu blinked rapidly, trying to catch his breath after the warm up. He doubled over and holded his whole body with both hands on his knees. Geez, he felt really uneasy, dizzy and nauseous. His vision was more blurry than before and he felt a strong wave of nausea rock his entire body.
“Tsumu, wait.”
The blonde turned madly at him and raised an eyebrow when he saw him bending. The rest of the team didn’t noticed this because they kept walking towards the net. They were standing in a row.
“Samu, the fuck you’re doing? Let’s go.”
“I- I don’t feel good.” he breathed out, almost choking himself as he bringed a hand up to cover his mouth.
“What ya’ mean? Hey, Samu.”
Atsumu looked confused and annoyed as he got close to him, but when he saw him gag hard on his hand with both eyes closed, he freaked out.
“Shit.” Atsumu ran out to him. “Wait, fuck.”
Atsumu grabbed him by the shirt and walked faster than before with him, this time going to the other side of the court, where the bathroom was. He didn’t care if the game was going to start now, even if he heard the coach and Kita desperately calling for them.
“What the fuck is wrong with you?You okay?” Atsumu asks, almost immediately when the two were already inside a cubicle.
Osamu groaned, both eyes going a bit watery.
“I-” he swallowed hard, closing his eyes to ease the nausea and the churning on his belly. That time Atsumu noticed how flushed he was. “False alarm. Sorry, let’s go to the court.”
“You’re sick.”
“I’m not.” Osamu groaned. “I just got dizzy with the receiving warm up.”
Atsumu placed a palm abruptly onto Osamu’s forehead and grimaced with guilt. His brother was drowning in fever, there was no way he could deny that.
“Yea, and I’m Jesus.”
“Jesus is good, you’re not.”
Osamu inhaled deeply and felt his stomach turn again, so he groaned at the feeling and grabbed the angry organ with both arms. Whatever he had on his stomach (because he didn’t have breakfast that morning) was feeling so heavy in there that the only thing he wanted, was to throw up and get over with it.
He spitted saliva on the toilet, feeling a bit of bitter taste on his tongue.
“You’re not gonna play like this.” Atsumu stated, as he heard the bathroom door being open. “It’s like suicide.”
“Miya’s? You there?”
Osamu placed a hand on his face and Atsumu got out of the cubicle to face the angry shadow of Kita. That was the last thing they wanted.
“What happened?” He asked, walking towards the blonde. “Why did you run like that? The game already started and the coach is mad. I know we are facing a weak opponent but you two should be more responsable. Especially you, Atsumu. We already talked about it when you ask me for kneepads.”
Osamu felt something revolving inside of him, and he burped slightly on his fist. Feeling the taste of acid and putrid eggs. He groaned at it, clearly disgusted. He was feeling so sick.
“Kita-san, I already said sorry and Samu’s sick.” Atsumu said in defense, almost immediately when Kita finished his sentence. “And he was about to hurl, that’s the reason behind us running. Sorry.”
“Where’s he?”
“The last cubicle.”
Osamu cursed on his mind, as he burped again on his fist. After that, he coughed and bended to face the toilet.
“You ok there?” Kita was so soft when he wanted to. “You look terrible. I’m surprised at how I didn’t noticed this before, sorry about that.”
“Tsumu’s my brother and he didn’t knew too. Don’t worry, Kita-san.”
Osamu gagged slightly, bringing up a bit of yellow bile inside the toilet. Kita placed a hand on his already soaked back and started to make circles on it. Atsumu was outside the cubicle but he was staring at the scene with a worried expression.
Why didn’t Samu told him?
“Fu-fuck.” Osamu gagged hard again, bringing nothing more than bile as he coughed. Atsumu wrinkled his nose.
“Just let it happen, you’ll feel better after that.” Kita said, still rubbing circles on his back. “Tsumu, go to the court. The team needs you, I got him.”
“Bu-”
“Go.”
Atsumu watched in horror at how his brother jerked in pain, coughing and gagging loudly. He didn’t wan’t to let him alone there, he knew that Kita was a good caretaker, he was even better than him. However, this time he felt like it was his responsibility since he didn’t noticed how sick he was.
“Tsumu, I got him.” Kita said again, with a serious glare and Atsumu sighed.
Osamu belched loudly and he felt something stuck on the back of his throat, everything hurted inside of him and he was already crying because of it. He wasn’t sobbing, though. Just crying.
“Relax, Samu. I got’cha.”
His lips shivered when he heard Atsumu’s intent of soft voice and this time he let out a pained sob. The hand that was making circles on his back, now was from his brother. Maybe he was hallucinating in fever but, that felt kind of good in all of his misery.
Not that he didn’t like Kita’s, but it was different.
“Relax, Samu. You’re too tense damn it.”
“C-can’t.” Samu coughed out, gagging at the end. “La-ast night was the same. I just- just wanna puke already. It hurts.”
Atsumu grimaced, and then he made Samu kneel in front of the toilet as he kneeled by his side. Kita watched them with a serious look from outside, as he glared at the people who entered the bathroom to pee or wash his hands.
“K’ay.” Atsumu said, sighing at the end as he still rubbed Samu’s back and shoulders. “Do you remember that time when I puked on you accidentally after I ate cheese by mistake and you started to puke too because of it when we where like ten?”
Osamu gagged almost immediately.
“You said it smelled like rancy cheese and sour milk, and it tasted like-”
A strangled sound was heard from Osamu’s throat and before Atsumu could say more, Osamu retched a mouthful of sick in front of the toilet, splashing it in the water below his chin. Immediately at the end, Osamu coughed and belched sickly another mouthful without any break.
“There you go.” Atsumu said, wrinkling his nose at the smell of putrid eggs. “Just let that shit out of your body.”
Osamu tried to catch his breath between rounds, but another gurgle interrupted him and he threw up another mouthful of thick yellow vomit mixed with colours like pale brown and green. He felt disgusting, but relieved at the same time.
“The fuck you ate? Gee-g ez.” Atsumu gagged slightly on his shoulder because of the smell, as Osamu gagged another round of colorful sick. This time more liquid than before and it came out from his nose too, messing up a bit the edge of the toilet because of the splash.
“He is really sick.” Kita said, as Osamu heaved again and jerked more stinky liquid inside the toilet, the sound of it echoing in the entire bathroom. “Pass me your mom number when he’s done. He has to be home.”
“She’s working now, but I think this is an emergency.” The blonde said, as he heard Osamu’s groan when he threw up more from his nose.
“It is.”
Atsumu nodded and covered his nose as he still rubbed his brother back. He was panting now and just gagging tiny puddles of sick.
“You see? It wasn’t something hard to do.” Atsumu said, as Osamu blew his nose inside the sick toilet.
“Don’t you ever remember me that day again, you asshole and stupid lactose intolerant.”
Atsumu laughed a bit and when he saw him flushing the toilet he stood up, still covering his nose. The gray haired twin sighed with a pained and flushed cheeks expression as he sitted down in the floor next to the toilet, grabbing his stomach with one hand and rubbing it up and down.
He burped, swallowing the awful taste.
“How you feel now? Better?” Kita asks, and Osamu nods.
“Kind of, my belly’s still hurting and I’m cold.” Osamu closed his watery eyes, breathing slowly. “I wanna go home, I really don’t feel good.”
Atsumu passed the phone number of his mother to Kita and he immediately called her as he got out of the bathroom. Atsumu peered at his brother with an innocent smile when Kita was gone. Osamu opened his eyes at the feeling.
“What?” Osamu snapped at him, his face tired of everything and red because of the fever.
“Well.” Atsumu cleared his throat with a smirk. “Since you won’t be playing, I think you should pass me your kneepads.”
You gotta be kidding me.
That was what Osamu thought in annoyance, but in the other way he was greatful for having him in there. He was an asshole, but he was his brother.
His twin brother.
The only one who could take care of him properly since they were kids.
(nsfw prompt) 7. “I could just pull your bikini bottoms to the side, no one would notice” 👀👀👀
N/A: EVO setting. Uhm, Emma was supposed to show up in season 5 but she will never show up because, well, the show was canceled. Anyway, Emma and Betsy are adults here -no cougar for Scott this time- and are a thing as well rich bitches.
@tieflingteeth @dannybagpipesarecalling @muninandhugin
Buy me kofi
Kitty´s bikini
Swirling around in front of the mirror is not providing any new results. The woman bites her lips as she stares at her own reflection once more-her hands clap her breast as she tries to maneuver in a more favorable position for the bikini, however, the result is the same- as now her reflection shows her shoulder fell and she puffed a lock of hair out of her face.
"Damn, I wish my tits are bigger" she complains now pouting and twisting her lips to the right side in a comical way. "I mean, it barely fills I have..." shaking her head. She tries again. "No, no, let´s no go-to self-depreciative route. I´ve got pretty nice tits. My bikini looks cute and I can rock this look"
Inhale and exhale, Kitty Pryde tries again. "I look cute. Emma Frost is a bitch and I can destroy her" now, a smirk adorns her rounded face. "Yep, feels right now"
Someone knocks on the door. Rogue is sporting a black bikini and a total gothic look- there´s a joke about hydrate your gothic friend, Kitty is mulling over about that, can she make the same joke again?- and resting her back on the wall of their jointed room.
"KittyCat! Are you ready?" Rogue asked knowingly. "Emma and Betsy will be there and well, Ah sure the two want to make the beach day a real blast...rich folks like them often do" Rogue shurgs nonchalantly.
Kitty bites her lips. "Yeah, you think I look good?"
Rogue gave an apprehension look. "You look fine as a Cat" and smirks at the lame pun. Kitty is not impressed. "Plus, my brother would adore you whatever you wear so...you got this cut short" Rogue states in a tenderly way.
Kitty nods sagely. "The same way Scott will love your bikini even if he never read Edgar Allan Poe"
Rogue blushes and leaves. Their relationship was never a secret. Jean, to everyone´s surprise, is taking this really well. No crazy ex-girlfriend so far.
Emma Frost gets under Kitty´s skin in a way no one managed yet. Kitty often thinks in phase her heart out and leave to rot- Kitty then ponders her own moralities in question- since the old woman is notorious for bullying Kitty.
(One attempted murder that the woman swear it was an accident via mind-control NEVER was forgiven nor believed by Kitty)
Emma is dating Betsy Braddock. Now, how someone as cool as Betsy fall for Emma is a mystery Kitty is unsure if she wants to solve, however, this is a beach day and the couple will be more focused on each other than on whatever Kitty is doing.
(She hopes so)
Jean is for once too silent as she´s gazing at Scott and Rogue being a couple. The beach day is relaxing and no one makes any comment about Kitty´s bikini. She looks down.
(Is it better to be ignored or people say you have small tits?)
She sits on a beach chair. Passing sunscreen on her skin when Kurt bamf away- the boy was talking with the other boys. The mutants received some positive shift in the media, but, racism doesn´t end just because someone on the TV says 'mutants are cool'- sitting next to Kitty and making quips about sand.
"Is rough, coarse, and gets everywhere" Kurt said in a moody tone.
"Hi, Anakin, please, don´t murder kids...this time" Kurt sighs dramatically then breaks off with a big grin. "So, how the beach day hosted by Emma and Betsy going so far?"
"I still hate Emma, but, is not bad" Kitty declared rolling her eyes. "But...why they have a yacht here?"
Kurt is watching Kitty. Studying the form of her bikini, of her body before finally answering. "uhm, I think Emma wants to take us on a cruise, she mentioned something about Barcelona, but, uhm...I didn´t pay attention to the rest" Kurt offers an apologetic smile.
Kitty shakes her head. "Typical..."
Suddenly, Emma let a big scream escape her blue lips- painted by some famous brand. Emma is a person of brands- and some nasty words can be heard. Nasty words that Logan himself is impressed by it.
The reason? The yacht is on fire, literally. Betsy is offering her assistance to solve the problem and even regular-Joe can see the problem is severe. The engine is on fire, again, literally.
Kurt never stops gazing at Kitty. Is not subtle anymore.
"Elf?"
"Have I mentioned how you look with your bikini?"
"Not really?" tries to play coy. Kitty fails not it matters.
"You look so delicious..." his grin is a bit impish. “I could just pull your bikini bottoms to the side, no one would notice”
Kitty´s eyes widen then her mind reels back and forth. Biting her lips she asked. "What about them?" her eyes goes to the adults trying to control the fire on the Yacht.
"They won´t notice" his grin promises anything.
Their chairs are together now. Kitty is not as much of a prude as some like to believe, however, she´s not keen on public sex ...yet. Kurt´s hand open one part of her bikini and notices her pink nipples. Kurt licks her lips.
Is bold of him to lick and even bite said nipple, no one is paying attention to them. The motor is making another sound- Emma cursed loudly again- and no one is paying attention to Kitty´s stiffing a moan.
People did notice when Jean arrives and punches Scott in the face. People did notice when Jean turns out to be Mystique and tries to steal Rogue away.
Kurt and Kitty didn´t saw Rogue beat up Mystique and helping a nosebleed Scott to stand up-his glasses are still on- who is completely unfazed by everything.
Kurt and Kitty were busy with each other.
Morning Problems
Sickie: Jungkook
Caretaker: Jin (+ kinda the rest of bts??? ish?)
Word count: 730
T/W: mentions of emeto
--
Jungkook rests his head back against the wall, knees pulled up to his chest as he fights back tears. He's currently curled up in the bathroom - a result of the absolutely miserable morning the boy has had. First, he woke up to wracking chills and an awfully aching stomach, then he threw up for what felt like days, and now he's here.
The poor maknae's breath catches with another cramp and he finally lets a sob rip from his already grated and raw throat. Tears spill down his cheeks, mixing with the cakey sweat and hair stuck to his skin.
Jungkook honestly just wants to be held and rocked to sleep. Taken care of. But it doesn't feel right to ask of any of the members that, what with their incredibly busy schedules.
He continues to cry for a while on his own, sniffling and coughing and sobbing. His stomach eventually decides that these actions are too much and it rebels again, forcing him back over the toilet with a violent, loud retch.
Seokjin finally startles awake at the foreign sounds, upright in an instant and brows furrowed. He checks the time and hums worriedly. 5 am… who would be awake at this time?
Deciding to save the questions for later, Seokjin gets up to go investigate. Following the sounds to the bathroom, the eldest recognizes what's going on - somebody is throwing up.
Frowning, Seokjin hurries his pace, throwing open the door and gasping. "Shit, Gguk," he breathes out. He crouches behind the maknae, laying a hand over Jungkook's broad and sweaty back. Seokjin winces at the heat. "Aigoo, you're burning up…" Reaching his free hand up, Seokjin cards it through the younger's long, damp hair.
Jungkook sobs again, choking back more retches. "Hyungie… don' feel good…" The boy slurs.
"I know, I can tell." Seokjin murmurs. "Are you done, Gguk? Or do you have more?"
At that question, Jungkook only begins to cry harder. It shocks Seokjin, but the older is quick to pull Jungkook close with a soft coo. "Hey, hey, you're okay… I've got you, bun. Tell hyung what's wrong, hm?"
"I-I… I've jus' been th'owin' up so much… 'n I'm sick of it…" Jungkook chokes out. "Been awake for hours…"
Seokjin frowns. "Bunny… why didn't you tell anyone? You should've woken one of us up to take care of you." He scolds gently, tracing circles on the maknae's chest with his palm.
"Didn' wan' bother you…" Jungkook begins to trail off, eyes fluttering shut. The poor boy is utterly exhausted from both his bug and the ridiculously awful morning he's had.
Seokjin lets out a small sigh and shakes his head. Noticing the younger beginning to fall asleep, a smile tugs at the corners of Seokjin's lips. He raises his hand from Jungkook's chest and begins to run his fingers through the boy's long hair that was slick with sweat. "I've said it before and I'll say it again," the older begins, "you'll never bother or burden us when you aren't doing well, Kookoo. Either physically or mentally. Me and the rest of your hyungs are here to help and support you no matter what."
Jungkook manages a weak nod. "P-Promise…?"
"I promise, Gguk. Now come on, let's get you to bed, hm? Hyung will stay with you and be right there when you wake up." Seokjin assures, somehow able to scoop the boy up into his arms with a grunt of exertion. Hurrying to Jungkook's bedroom, the older lays the maknae down and gets in with him, tucking Jungkook in, being cautious and careful and meticulous. He wants his baby to be as comfortable as he can get.
Jungkook lets out a quiet, content hum. He fists the fabric of Seokjin's shirt and buries his head into the older's chest. "Love you, hyun'..." He slurs, right before drifting off.
The words take Seokjin by surprise, a shocked but happy smile spreading across his face. He pecks the maknae's forehead. "I love you too, sprout." He whispers.
And sure, the rest of the day goes by in a similar fashion to the events of that morning, but Jungkook finds that he doesn't mind. His hyungs are all there to help him through it and take care of him, make sure he's comfortable and always asking if things hurt.
The maknae couldn't ask for a better family.
--
A/N: so... after ten million years I've finally gotten a fic out! ahhh! I'm so, so sorry it has taken me so long, and I'm not gonna bother you with any excuses. just know I'm so incredibly sorry :(
Jamilton Month Day 10 - Cooking
Alex wakes up because of a loud scream from somewhere in the flat, which is, admittedly, not how he though he would be woken up on their six month anniversary. He was very much looking forward to being woken up by kisses that would result in morning sex, so he lets out a sigh and gets up. He grabs a sweater from Thomas, that he had left lying on the ground, and pulls it over his head, heading to the living room to investigate what has happened. He finds Thomas in the kitchen, clutching his left hand, blood pouring through his fingers. He looks pale and a bit panicked and Alex just stares at him in shock for a moment, before he rushes over and guides Thomas to sit down.
“What happened?”, he asks frantically.
He grabs a towel from the counter under the kitchen sink and softly pulls Thomas´ hand away, replacing it with the towel and pressing down on. Thomas lets out a quiet hiss and lets his head fall back against the wall.
“I wanted to make you breakfast.”, Thomas says through gritted teeth, chuckling quietly.
Alex looks around in the kitchen and finds and a bloody knife on the ground, that he hadn´t noticed before, as well as some cut tomatoes on the counter. He turns back to Thomas, shaking his head.
“How did you manage that?”, Alex asks, still with a slightly panicked edge in his voice.
Thomas shrugs, almost instantly wincing at the movement.
“Happy anniversary, babe.”
Alex sighs and cups Thomas´ face, softly stroking his cheek.
“You are the worst. How bad is the cut?”
Thomas shrugs again.
“I didn´t get a good look at it. But it felt bad.”, he answers, his voice clearly showing his pain. “I just really don´t like blood.”
Alex nods.
“Okay, let me see.”
He gently unwraps the towel from Thomas´ hand. It is almost soaked through already, and instantly blood seeps out of the cut again. Thomas takes in a sharp breath, and Alex looks up at him and sees Thomas pressing his eyes close, while his face loses the last bit of colour.
“Hey, it´s not that bad. Just a little cut.”, Alex lies, applying pressure once more to his boyfriend´s hand.
Thomas lets out a small whimper, a single tear running down his cheek.
“I feel dizzy.”, Thomas mumbles, and Alex softly shushes him.
“It´ll be okay.”, Alex gives back, and presses a kiss to Thomas´ head, before getting up. “I´ll quickly get some bandages, where do you keep them?”
“Bathroom.”, Thomas answers, looking up at Alex for a moment, before he closes his eyes again.
“I´ll be back in a second.”, Alex promises.
It takes him a moment to search all drawers in the bathroom, but then he finally finds the first aid kit. He hurries back to Thomas, dropping to his knees in front of him.
“I found it!”, Alex says, and Thomas makes an affirming noise. “I´ll quickly put a bandage around it and then we´ll drive to the hospital okay?”
At that Thomas´ eyes snap open, and he gives Alex a panicked look.
“You said it´s not that bad!”
“It´s not. It´s just… not good either.”
Thomas groans, but lets Alex wrap the bandage around his hand. Once it´s secured, he helps Thomas up and to the couch.
“I´ll just quickly put some clothes on, I´ll be back before you know I´m gone.”
Thomas nods, but catches Alex´ arm with his good hand, before he can go.
“Sorry, that I destroyed our anniversary.”, he says quietly. “I know how important this was for you.”
Alex can feel his heart breaking a bit at that, and comes back to the couch, leaning down to press a soft kiss to Thomas´ lips.
“I love you. Don´t worry about it.”
Thomas nods reluctantly and releases Alexander´s arm, who hurries to the bedroom and puts some jeans on. He decides to stay in Thomas´ sweater, which brings him a strange kind of comfort.
“This is the best gift you could make me.”, Alex jokes, once he is in the living room again, showing Thomas the keys to his car. “I´ve always wanted to drive your car.”
Thomas rolls his eyes, and Alex notes with some relief that he seems to be less pale, now that he doesn´t have to see the blood again. He still helps him up and guides him down to the garage, where Thomas´ car is parked.
“I´m sure I could still drive. It´d be far worse if you crash this car.”, Thomas complains as he gets into the car.
“I knew I never should have to you about that one time I did that when I was fifteen.”
Thomas just chuckles, which dissolves some of the anxiety that has been building inside of Alex since he found Thomas. The drive is pretty short and Thomas follows Alex into the hospital waiting room and waits there, while Alex gives his name to the nurse at the register. Alex comes back to Thomas a few minutes later with a coffee in his hand, and sits down next to him, resting his head against his shoulder for a moment.
“You can be lucky there aren´t that many people here, the coffee tastes awful.”
Thomas lets out a chuckle, before he hides his face in his boyfriend´s hair.
“I´m so sorry about all of that.”, he mumbles. “I just wanted to do something nice for you.”
“I know, baby. It´s okay. It´s not your fault.”
They stay like that until Thomas gets called into a treatment room. He stands up and hesitates a moment, looking down at Alex.
“You want me to come with you?”, he asks, and Thomas nods.
“I really don´t like blood or needles or doctors.”, he says quietly, and Alex nods.
“Lead the way.”
Thomas already clutches Alex´ hand on the way to the treatment room, and Alex would be lying if he said he didn´t think about mocking him for it, a remnant from their days as enemies, but his worried boyfriend role wins. The doctor has him sit down, while Alex remains standing beside him. As soon as the doctor starts unwrapping the bandage, Thomas hides his face in Alexander´s chest, who holds him close, softly stroking his hair. The doctor gives Alex a sympathetic smile and then concentrates on treating Thomas´ wound. She quickly cleans it, before stitching it together and putting another bandage on. She explains how they should look after the injury, before she sends them on their way home.
“I´m still sorry about our anniversary.”, Thomas says, once they are out of the hospital.
Alex gives him a cheeky grin and wraps his arms around Thomas´ neck, pulling him down for a kiss.
“Well, that just means that you have to try extra hard next time.”
Thomas laughs softly, kissing Alex once more.
“I will. I promise I will.”
Stronger
Hey hey hey welcome to Part 3 of Miraculous Leap (Part 1). Part 2 is 5 Minutes
Ending this year with Lukanette again! Hoping it brings good tidings for 2021 (better than 2020 that's for sure)! Happy New Year!
FYI: Dewey = Dominic :)
AO3 link!
Ladybug brushed away her tears and smiled back up at Viperion. "Okay," she said shakily, nodding to indicate that she understood. "Okay."
They were in the past, or at least they were currently occupying their past selves. Hmm, how long ago was this? Ladybug looked back down at her suit and it was that ridiculous basic-ass red and black polka dot version. She didn't even have her wings. Okay, that narrowed it down to… younger than 16?
Ugh, that sucked. No one in their right mind would ever want to repeat their awkward teenage years over again, but… as much as she loved Dewey and wanted him with her at least right now she wasn't feeling like she'd swallowed a basketball. And she currently didn't have any back pain, which was a bonus.
Tikki, I need my wings, Ladybug thought at Tikki.
Tikki sounded a little startled to be pinged directly like she just was. Oh… um… Okay, Marinette!
She suddenly felt herself being wrenched away from Luka by another person before her wings fully manifested. "H-Hey!" She yelled out.
Chat had pulled her behind him and was aiming his baton at Viperion. "Don't touch her, you jerk! What did you do?! Why'd you make her cry?!"
"Chat… wh-what?" Ladybug sputtered. She heard Viperion growling under his breath.
"Are you okay, Milady?" Chat called out over his shoulder. Oh God, not this phase. She saw Luka clench his jaw and fold his arms but otherwise he was remaining still. Luka was pissed at the way she was being handled but he knew better than to step in and make things worse… Though Marinette knew he had a limit.
Ladybug sighed. "Chat, I'm fine!" Of course Chat wasn't standing down.
"Here's what's going on," Viperion said, sounding clipped. "This akuma controls time. Its power is to swap someone from a different time period in their life to here. Long story short the Ladybug and Viperion here now are from the future. I'm from the future. She's from the future. We're from the same future, since your LB and Viperion got hit with the same blast. We'd both been… taking care of someone, and it was terrifying that he wasn't here with us."
Chat was taken aback and reacted like he'd just been slapped. "Who… Both of…? No, nevermind. You guys… don't look like you're from the future," he said suspiciously.
Viperion took a deep inhale and long exhale in annoyance. "It was a mental swap. Sorry. Should have clarified." Thank God her husband had the patience he did. But oh shit--
"V! 7 o'clock!" Ladybug yelled out, pushing Chat out of her way. Ladybug wasn't 100% certain Viperion had access to all of his abilities so she had started to get her yoyo shield ready. Viperion turned in the direction she specified and caught the blast before it landed, reversing time itself and pushing the blast back to its origin. Okay, that question answered. Viperion had what he needed.
"Wow! What was that?!" Chat cried out in astonishment. "Oh holy crud, Ladybug, you--you can fly?!"
"Chat! Focus! We need to take care of this akuma!" Ladybug called out. The sooner they finish, the sooner she and Luka can get back to… She snorted to herself. What an awkward time for her past self to end up in.
(Back in the future…)
"I can't believe we have 5 kids," Marinette started laughing. It… oddly didn't bother her all that much. After all, with a certain someone she had imagined having up to 3. 5… was… well, definitely way less believable, but it didn't bother her.
Luka looked a little embarrassed and took a drink of his water. He just shrugged and sat down on the floor next to Marinette, pressing his back up against the edge of the bed. "I didn't have a plan for anything," he said sheepishly. "Just me and my guitar for… ever, I guess."
Marinette blinked in surprise. "You never planned to ask me out?"
"Didn't seem like you'd be interested," he said, raising an eyebrow at her question. "I don't mean for this to sound bad but… I don't know how we got…" He gestured at the room. "Here."
It's 'cause he thinks you're in love with Adrien, duh, Marinette chided herself. But… but was she… really?
"Wait… where are… the kids?" Luka asked.
"With my parents," Marinette answered. "Seems like they all go over pretty regularly," she said, showing Luka her calendar. Every 2 weekends she had an event called "Kids @ T/S," with the alternate weekends being labeled "Kids w/Granarka." Well, that was extremely nice of their parents to take on… "We must like these kids if we wanted 5 of them," Marinette mumbled to herself. She opened up her phone's photos and looked through the albums.
She noticed that Luka had leaned in a little to look over her shoulder. "Sorry," he said, pulling back.
"No, they're… yours too," she laughed. She angled the phone so the both of them could see.
"Harmony" was the oldest at 9, the most recent video had her playing a yellow electric guitar and singing on stage by herself at what looked like a small café. There were so many pictures and videos of her at these showings, and in a number of them it looked like future Luka was just offstage cheering her on.
"Melody" was second oldest at 6, and it seemed like she was a little copy of Marinette herself. Marinette couldn't help but smile down at the photos of her future second daughter dressing up and posing in various costumes and placing scrap fabric pieces together on the floor in make-believe designs. Apparently Marinette would have a protégé to call her own.
"Hugo & Louis" were the twin boys, still toddlers at 3. They always had silly faces on in all the pictures Marinette and Luka scanned. She had a video of future Luka tossing both boys into a ball pit and them giggling like maniacs, enjoying the airtime and landing in an explosion of brightly colored plastic balls.
And finally, "Dominic" was an album full of sonograms. Marinette patted her stomach. "Well, hello Dominic," she said. "I wish we met under better circumstances. I hope you're alright."
There had been another album labeled "Us" that Marinette scrolled through. Stills of future Marinette and future Luka together at award shows or at fashion events. Selfie videos of them sending jokes to one another. Pictures of future Luka working in his studio or playing his guitar or hanging out with friends.
Future Marinette adored him. Every picture had him smiling back or pleasantly surprised.
One selfie from several months ago had him with his arms wrapped around her from behind, leaning down to kiss her shoulder as she held up 3 different positive pregnancy test results in front of the bathroom mirror. Future them looked so happy.
Suddenly an awful, sinking feeling hit Marinette.
"We're not going to remember this," she said to Luka, and it was something like anguish that made her voice sound so raw. "Probably? Sometimes no one remembers what happened when the Miraculous Ladybugs reset everything…" She saw his eyes widen. "I don't… This… I-I… I want to remember this!"
His eyes widened further in surprise as both eyebrows went up. "You do?"
"Yeah! I mean, look at us! We're so… so… Wait… do you want… all this?"
Luka looked somewhat incredulous. "You remember I had zero plans, right? I didn't think about dating or marriage or kids." Marinette felt like a balloon (pregnancy aside) that just got punctured. For some reason her heart ached. "I mean… I never figured I'd get anywhere with you past being your friend. I didn't think you liked me that way at all. This? All this," he pointed at the pictures, "wasn't even a possibility." He closed his eyes.
Marinette wasn't sure what to say.
"Wasn't before," he said quietly, after a few moments. He started staring off into the distance. "Now? Do I want this?" He dropped his gaze to his left ring finger, then back up at her. "Yeah. Yes. But I don't want you to start liking me because of this. Futures aren't ever set in stone." He stared back off into space. "Honestly I want us to forget this. It's nice. Really nice. And maybe it won't happen. It'd hurt a lot to know what I missed out on."
Oh. Oh no. She'd been doing the Chat thing where she was barreling toward a specific outcome without thinking about the process or journey. Luka was right. Maybe it wouldn't happen. Not without her taking honest stock of her feelings first.
Did she want… him?
"It's supposed to lift you up and make you feel stronger." Chat had done that for her once. Then recently it'd been more like "Don't focus on the bad stuff." That didn't stop the bad stuff from existing.
Adrien had done that for her when he said she was the "Everyday Ladybug." And then it felt that no matter what she did he kept getting further and further away. And Adrien hadn't reached back out for her to help close the distance.
"Sorry," Luka said, breaking her out of her thoughts. "Guess I'm just… worried."
Marinette looked at him. "No, you're right. It would be unfair if all I wanted was the result." She paused for a few seconds to think her words through.
"I'm not going to start liking you because we got to experience this future," Marinette began again. "I don't even know when it really started. I just know I already do. You've never made me feel like I was wrong. You've never made me doubt myself. You've never made me think for one second I'd have to watch the things I say and the things I do or pretend to be friends with the people who've hurt me. You've always let me be who I am."
He had turned to look at her, worry and concern etched in the furrows of his brows. But the edges had softened as she talked.
Marinette smiled shyly. "I know it's not going to be easy… and it's something we'll have to keep working on… but I'd like to find out how far we can go together." She held out her hand to him, palm up. "I want… us. An us… whatever it looks like in the end."
Luka searched her face for a few heartbeats and took a breath, seemingly content with whatever he found. He gave her a lopsided smile. "I want that too." He reached out and took her hand.
(The "past")
"Miracu--!" Ladybug was getting ready to launch her Lucky Charm up in the air when Chat stopped her.
"Wait! Wait wait wait. Please. Can… can I talk with you… in private? For a little bit, Milady?" Chat looked down at her pleading with his most pathetic looking kitten eyes and Ladybug sighed. She glanced back at Viperion, who cocked his head a tiny bit to the side and smiled.
Like Luka was shrugging a What can you do?
Marinette winked back a Won't take long, handed Viperion the Lucky Charm, and turned back to Chat. "Alright. The rules are I'm not going to tell you any details but we can talk."
Chat jumped over to another rooftop and down into the alley below, putting a few buildings between him and Viperion. Ladybug followed behind him, floating down with her wings. Chat leaned his back against the brick wall and folded his arms. "Did… I ever have a chance with you?"
Huh. Okay. Chat was more observant than she remembered him being at 15. "Hmm, yes," Ladybug answered. She knew who he was, after all.
"Then… I guess I screwed up," Chat said miserably. "I always thought we were made for each other, you know?"
"We might have been once," Ladybug said gently. "But we both grew up, Chat. Neither of us screwed up at all."
Chat furrowed his brows at that. "Is there anything I can do now to change?"
"You wouldn't be you, Chat." She walked over to him and pulled him into a hug, leaving a hand on his shoulder after stepping back. "I know it's not what you thought you wanted, but your future will still be amazing."
"Are… you happy?"
Ladybug had a serene smile, glancing back in Viperion's general direction with her hands now over her heart. "I am."
Chat stared at her for a bit. Something about the quiet conviction she had was more… meaningful than if she'd been animated about saying it.
There was nothing to prove to anyone. It was just the truth.
Chat sighed audibly. "Okay, Ladybug. Thanks," he gave her a small smile. "Sorry. You need to get back home, right?" Ladybug nodded. "Then let's get going!"
Moments later Ladybug and Chat Noir landed together in front of Viperion, who handed the Lucky Charm back to her. She threw it high into the sky and said "Miraculous Ladybugs!"
Ladybug reached out her hand and Viperion took it in his. They smiled at each other when the waves of ladybugs passed over them.
Ladybug blinked a few times, her brain a little foggy after being hit with that blast. She'd been trying to save Viperion from the akuma's attack… She must have been a little too slow. Wait, where were they? And Viperion was in front of her now, and he looked… okay?
He was staring down at something. When she looked in the same direction she saw that they were holding hands. A small part of her panicked and wanted to pull away, but… an overwhelmingly larger part of her… liked it? Viperion hadn't pulled away either. So she… didn't pull away.
"Welcome back, Viperbug," Chat laughed, his baton across his shoulders with his hands on either end.
"What… happened?" Ladybug asked, her cheeks slightly pinking as she kept a hold of Viperion. It just felt… kinda nice.
"There was something about the future," Viperion said, still staring down at their linked hands. "I feel like there was something important, but… I can't seem to remember."
"Yeah, you guys got hit by the akuma but we still managed to take care of it. Paris is safe again," Chat smiled. "I'm heading out. See you guys later!" he yelled out, leaping away after saluting.
Huh. It felt like Chat wanted to leave faster than usual. He didn't even stop for their typical "Bien Joué!"
"… I guess we're done here? Alright, I'll drop you back off at home," Ladybug said to Viperion.
(One day later)
"Hey Marinette," Luka said from behind her. Marinette yelped and windmilled forward, nearly falling over but quickly got back to her feet and spun on her heels to face him. "… Are you looking for Juleka?" He had a smile on his face… one part amusement by her antics and another part joy in seeing her.
She'd come onboard the Liberty and stood on the deck… there wasn't any real reason why, she just kinda… showed up. "Ah haha, um, no, no I a-actually… I was just um! Looking around! Yeah! The-The stage!" Oh God why did she say that.
Luka rolled with it, even though Marinette was certain he knew she just made that up. "Sure, feel free. It's good to see you."
"Too! It's you! I mean it's good to you! See you. Too," she laughed nervously. He moved around her and set his backpack down against the atrium couch. She slapped both hands to her face and cringed when she thought he wasn't looking at her. Auuugh.
"I'm gonna get a snack. Do you want anything?"
She jumped again, hiding her hands behind her back. "Oh! S-sure, thanks, that's great."
"Cool, do you want to follow me down and let me know what you'd like?" She nodded and went to the main cabin with him. She sat down at the kitchen counter bar and asked for juice, sipping it nervously when he sat in the seat next to her.
"I… I actually just wanted to talk with you," she said. "You… said I can just be myself around you." It had been hard to look at him so she just stared at her glass, feeling self conscious.
"Yeah, always," he said easily. He'd gotten some yogurt for himself, but he hadn't opened it up yet. "What do you want to talk about?"
"I… There was… You know…" she started, sighing when she couldn't get the words she wanted out. "I'm not sure how to say it but… have you ever gotten the sense that you… missed something really important? Like you got caught up in something… silly and there was this really cool person you passed by 'cause you were distracted." She finally looked up at him.
"If they're still around you still have a chance to say hi," he smiled at her. "People are pretty chill, and I'm sure they'd love to talk with you." He opened up his yogurt and took a spoonful.
Marinette was pretty sure she was blushing. "Y-Yeah, he's pretty chill. Soooo. Hah, um. Hi."
With the spoon in his mouth he got out a "Hmm?"
"Wanna… see a movie?" She should clarify. "J-Just us! No group!" She should further clarify. "A date! It's a date! I'm asking!"
He swallowed too fast and started coughing. At least he hadn't swallowed the spoon. "Ah," he laughed after recovering. "That sounds great, but…" Marinette's heart jumped into her throat. "I wanna make sure you're… sure," he said awkwardly. "Sure you're not… missing out on what you really want," he added, blushing a bit himself.
"Th-That's why… I'm asking," she said shyly. "I-I think… What I really want is… something new. Someone that helps make me better, you know? Makes me happy too. And… I've been thinking about you."
"Me," he said, sounding a little surprised.
Marinette nodded. "Are… are you… interested?"
He took her hand in his. "Yeah. Definitely."
A Hunter’s Prey: Spiders and Coffee
The sun from a window shone directly on my face as a wake-up call from the sky. While I knew I slept awhile, my aching head didn’t think so. My eyes felt as tired as they did when I was asleep.
I went for a quick walk in the airship to get some type of air into my lungs. One thing that I wanted was coffee. I’d seen it advertised on the dinning board the night before. It sounded heavenly this morning which is why I went to search it out.
I had only one cup of coffee when Illumi walked into the room. My vision changed to the lukewarm liquid in my cup. I could feel the weight shift as Illumi sat across from me once again. We were in the same place as the night before; however, we felt so far. The ocean of questions had returned.
“I’m thinking of joining the Phantom Troupe,” said Illumi to break the silence. I remember that name from September. They were the people that attacked York New and killed many. There were still signs asking for their capture around the city. The leader’s face was plastered all over. The city was shut down for weeks after the attack as we rebuilt and gained control. My job was put on hold and the city had a lull in activity.
“Why would you join them?” I ask while taking a sip of coffee.
“We have a common enemy. Plus, they’re closer than you know.”
“What would I be doing while you rampage another city?”
“I think you need to  have a chat with Machi. You two have plenty to discuss. We’ll be landing at a town outside of Meteor City.” When he said my friend's name, I finally looked at him. Weirdly enough, he seemed as though he didn’t get enough sleep. Illumi lives on the fact that he doesn’t sleep. During the time I’d lived with him, he’d always fall asleep after me and wake up before or he didn’t sleep at all. It was almost inhuman the amount of sleep he did not need. Yet he was tired.
“Do you want some coffee?” I ask while handing him my cup. While I had drunk a lot of it, there was a little left. Illumi furrowed his brows. “I can get more.” I shrug and push the cup closer to him. Illumi took the cup and drank it down.
It was a silent moment of calmness. My hand absentmindedly brushed my hair behind my ears while looking out the window. The pale blue sky had very few clouds that passed through it. The day would be beautiful.
“Might I ask why I need to call Machi?” I ask. My eyes still transfixed to the pale blue sky. A small crowd of birds flew next to the airship. Their pattern seemed almost haphazard and confusing to my eyes; except I knew it wasn’t. They had a plan that I couldn’t see. Each of these beautiful creatures had a plan that I could never know. They reminded me of what was happening.
I could feel the pull of Illumi’s chair as he stood up. Without warning, he placed a newly refilled cup of coffee in front of me and sat back down. When I returned to look at him, he had his own cup. A smile crossed my face as I took a sip from the warm liquid.
“She’s a part of the troupe,” replied Illumi. “Kalluto told me all the members' names when he joined.” I set my coffee down even though I fully wanted to drop it.
“No. Machi would never join such a terrible group. She’s too nice for that.”
“She’s third in line. Well third in number. She was part of the original group. There’s a reason your friend didn’t want to talk about jobs or employment. Machi would play it off as just enjoyment but she was part of this group.” Illumi paused to take another sip. “In fact, she’s a founding member.”
My blood ran cold. No. Machi wouldn’t be lying to me. I’d known her for so many years. I knew she didn;t have that great a life before but she wasn’t a thief. She couldn’t be. Yet, it filled in the missing information she refused to tell me like why she was always gone on business and why she would tell me quickly when she would return.
“I want to find this out for myself,” I said while taking my phone from my pocket. I called her. The phone rang and rang until I was told to leave a message. Rather than follow the call’s pre-recorded message, I hung up. A few more times of calling lead to the same result. Finally, I settled on a text. It read: Hey, I think we need to talk.
“Add that it's about Spiders,” Illumi said while finally standing up. “Once we reach the ground, I’ll have a job for you. I’ll tell you closer to time. Until then, I want you to make contact with Machi. Find a time to meet and a place.”
I quickly added that second part. “Illumi,” I called out. “You really should rest.” He stopped for a moment and picked up the half-drank coffee. “If this is about yesterday, then know it's because I’m not like you. All of this is a lot for me. I’m not used to leaving at will.”
Rather than respond, my phone rang. It was Machi. By the time I looked back up, Illumi had already disappeared. I shook my head and answered the phone.
“What do you know about spiders?” asked the girl on the other line. Her voice seemed a lot more stressed than I’d ever heard. She was almost shouting into the phone.
“You could have started with a hello,” I joked nervously. I’d never been this nervous to talk to her. Conversation had always flowed easily between us. Everything was new ground.
“I’m not here for jokes. What do you know and how did you know it. Was it Hisoka?”
“No. It wasn’t. I have some things I need to tell you too. I’m headed towards Meteor City. Would you like to meet up and chat.”
“Y/n, I swear if this is a prank, we’re done being friends.” Her voice had the same anger as Illumi’s. It was like when she was speaking to Hisoka before: aggressive and invasive.
“This isn’t,” I say while holding my head. I ran my hand through my hair and sighed. “Trust me. I have been as honest as you. I really need answers and if the only way I’m going to get them is through you, then so be it.”
Machi sighed too. “Are you being blackmailed?”
“Yes and no. It’s complicated. I’ll explain when I arrive. Is there a coffee shop or some place that I can meet you when I land?”
There was a pause on the other side of the phone. “I’ll text you. I’ll have to tell the rest of the troupe who I’m meeting. They don’t like disturbances. We could have to meet late at night.” There was another pause. “Y/N if you’re in trouble, please stay safe. There’s a lot of things you don’t know in the world.”
I know a lot more than you think Machi is what I wanted to say. Instead, I settled on, “I will” and hung up. I held the phone tight to my chest. How will I be able to trust her again? All this life changing information that keeps coming at me, and I’m concerned with how it will turn out. Is this the life of an assassin? I finished my cup of coffee and went back to my room to try and process all the information given to me.
----------------------------------------------------------------
A few more hours had passed since we’d landed in a small town next to the forgotten wasteland called Meteor City. Illumi decided to take me to a small cafe to discuss what he has planned for me. It’s as close to a date as we’ve gotten.
“So, the plan starts with us splitting up for a bit,” said Illumi after we sat down. I had ordered something small because Machi had wanted to meet me at a crowded restaurant later in the night so that it’s less conspicuous.
“You’re leaving me?” I ask a little confused.
“Only for a little bit. Think of it as a trust exercise. Father told me that you’d learned how to use Nen for offense. I think it’s time to put it all to use.”
“What am I supposed to do?” A mission given to me by an assassin? All of this didn’t seem real. As a child, I’d always thought of secret missions as an exciting adventure. Now that I have the opportunity, I’m terrified.
“Your goal is to get me in as one of the spiders. Machi will most likely introduce you to the troupe. Don’t be scared. Kalluto and Machi will protect you to the best of their ability. Plus, they don’t kill members. I need to be on their side for a mission.”
I pause to collect my thoughts. “So,” I said after a moment. “My job is to talk you up to Machi’s boss.”
“Yes.”
“What if I refuse?”
“You won’t,” Illumi said with a smirk on his face. “You can’t refuse. Otherwise, I take you home and lock you back in that room until you learn to behave.”
“I’m not a dog,” I growled. My voice raises enough to attract some attention from people at the diner. We stay quiet for a moment until they return back to their conversation.
“I know. You are my wife- er- girlfriend and you are to protect and care for your hus-boyfriend.” Illumi’s choice of words confused me. Did our fight actually change some of his wording? Was that why he didn’t sleep well or at all?
His comments threw me off enough to give me time to think. “Fine,” I sighed. “If it comes up then I’ll tell them to have you join.” The preppy waitress came back to give us our food and refill the drinks. “What mission do you need to join the troupe for?” I ask while digging into my food.
“Hisoka challenged me to a job. If I kill him, I gain a lot of money. If he kills me, then it's fair. We agreed that one of us would kill the other. It’s part of our relationship.”
“What if he kills you?” I ask a little too quickly. My heart sped up in my chest. Illumi could die from this deal then I am left with nothing. All this build up for no pay off. I’d be left alone with so much information and a black hole where my life should’ve continued.
“That’s why I sped up meeting you. I, at least, wanted to meet you before that would happen.” Illumi took a bite of his food.
I shook my head. “No. This isn’t fair. Y-you can’t die. T-that’s not okay.”
“I won’t. Now, you’ll need to get me in with the spiders. That’s why it’s your job.” I suddenly didn’t feel hungry anymore. All of this was to help protect Illumi in case Hisoka did find a time to attack. There was so much pain in my heart it was almost crippling.
I pushed my food away. “I-I’ll do it. I’ll talk to Machi about you joining.”
“No. You need to talk to Chrollo.” Illumi reached over the table and picked up my head from it’s downcast state. I looked across the table at him. “Machi isn’t the leader. Chrollo is. However, the rest of the team has a say. I want to take over a member’s position that has passed away.”
“I’ll try,” I mumble. “What are you going to be doing while all of this is going on?”
Illumi finished the rest of his meal. “I’ll be trying to find my brother. Killua and Alluka can’t be too far away. I’ll return in a week unless I tell you otherwise.” The waitress came back and we paid. I looked down at the clock. It was getting late and I had another engagement to attend. One that would be just as hard as this one.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Illumi walked me until a block away from the restaurant. I felt scared and alone for the first time in so long. He wasn’t going to be there to protect me. I had to rely on my judgement when it comes to Nen. I was truly going to be alone.
“I won’t walk you further,” said Illumi as he suddenly stopped. “You can tell her everything. You need someone to talk to even when it’s not me.”
I could feel a few tears run down my cheeks as I turned to look at Illumi. His eyes held the same sadness even though to an outsider, it wouldn’t seem like it. I gave a small smile while wiping my cheeks. Without another word, I kissed him. This would be the last time that we would see each other for the longest duration. He was thrown off as it was unexpected.
“Stay safe, for me,” I mumbled while still close enough to feel his breath on my face.
“Y-you too,” he stuttered. He never stutters. I must’ve really thrown him for a loop. I smile and kiss him one more time before turning to go. I had to leave or I might not be able to actually go. I had a mission and I wasn’t going to let Illumi down. Now, I have to overcome the worst: talking to my best friend.
